How to appreciate a documentary from a professional perspective?
Recently, I found a documentary "Attention" in the second season on iQiyi. I thought it might just be a very ordinary movie about artifacts and craftsmen. But after careful reading, I found that each episode described the origin, the production process and the stories of the craftsmen behind it in great detail. Each episode has a discussion of traditional crafts, a deep excavation of the human history behind the artifacts, and a true record of the current situation of craftsmen in today's industrial production environment. "Concern" presents the production process of each craft to everyone through the lens, and also tells everyone the voice of every craftsman. After watching the whole program, you will find that all the craftsmen in the film have one thing in common: "Do one thing well all your life".
In the second season of Attention, there are old craftsmen who are over 60 years old, new craftsmen who are in their early 20 s after 90 s, famous artists who have been passed down from generation to generation, and explorers who work alone because of their love. It records the traditional crafts in every corner of China, and craftsmen of all ages and classes. It is precisely because of the persistence of these craftsmen and the skills of thousands of years that the traditional culture of China will not disappear.
Ye Sitai is one of them. He founded the traditional military equipment encyclopedia website, where he wrote, "Show you a magical ancient world with the skills of historians, the consciousness of anthropologists and the insight of archaeologists". Because of his love, he decided to restore Gujia after 90.
"12 holes symmetrically distributed along the central axis, even if the thickness is only 1mm, are related to each other under the traction of the leather rope." What impressed me most in the process of making armor was these details accurate to millimeter. The film is full of such fine descriptive words and shots that the audience can feel the seriousness and enthusiasm of the craftsman in every frame.
The program shows the process of making a suit of armor in a more three-dimensional way, and it is amazing that such complicated processes, techniques and inspections are needed. Behind the cold is the temperature of soldiers' lives. Behind this work is not only art, but also the guardian of life. As the movie said, "In ancient times, the armature master was a person who could be entrusted with his life."
Armor is a minority hobby in this era, but without the persistence of these more minorities, the production process of armor may have disappeared.
The material selection "copper pot" in the second episode of the second season of Attention is also facing such a dilemma. Copper pots have a long history in China, but in recent years, iron pots have become more and more popular in China, especially those made by Japanese craftsmen. In this regard, Zhu Junmin, the fifth generation descendant of Zhufu Copper Art, explained that iron pots are rich in Japan because there are no copper mines in Japan. No matter from the production skills or the raw materials themselves, the copper pot made by the traditional technology accumulated by thousands of years of copper culture in China is better than the iron pot.
Zhu Junmin said in "Attention" that one of the greatest charms of copper pots is that they have no "shape". This kind of artifact without any restrictions on polishing, each piece is "limited", and each piece is unique.
The coppersmith has been hammering all his life, and a copper pot is presented to you after constant hammering, annealing and welding. You may not know, in fact, a pot can only be shaped after 50 thousand hammers. In this constant beating, the craftsman's own pursuit is also the ultimate of artifacts.
Coincidentally, every craftsman is actually an idiot on earth. In the third episode, Wen, a man obsessed with porcelain, was born in Wuyishan. Influenced by the tea ceremony since childhood, he decided to be the best porcelain in China and revive this traditional skill when he was young. In recent years, I have become crazy about porcelain and invested millions in the research of blue and white porcelain. In order to make porcelain, he was willing to give up his thriving photography career, and even almost ruined his appearance because of burning porcelain, but he never changed his original intention. Long-term photography training has given him a unique insight into composition and aesthetics, and the new China blue and white porcelain produced by him is also loved and sought after by young people.
People who know new blue and white, old ancient art and porcelain know that "Happy Ancient Kiln" originated from the ancient inscription name and the strict definition of "work": the so-called fine products, exquisite craftsmanship and fineness are just the bottom line, and the "Tao" and "realm" it carries are the true meaning pursued by the creators and the "soul" of the utensils. Therefore, after years of investigation and study, Wenzhitao decided to resume the dragon kiln firing.
"It takes 72 hands to make a finished product", and every link cannot be neglected. Glaze blowing technology, wood kiln firing ... any of these processes reveals the rigor of craftsmen for this porcelain.
There are also many craftsmen like Ye Sitai, Zhu Junmin and Wen. For example, Chung Keung Lee, Qu Zhiqiang and Liu Tiejun in the fourth episode of Attention. Three friends who have passed the "year of no doubt" have studied hard and practiced hard, and finally become masters of "mosaic" technology. Three masters with numerous works have won numerous awards, but there has always been a regret in their hearts that the inlaid saddle that once carried the historical memory of "the nation on horseback" has lost its original practical value. They hope to do their best and concentrate their most exquisite skills on a small craft saddle.
And Yu Wanqi from the fifth episode of Attention. In the past thousand years, Yu's block printing has been handed down from generation to generation.
In the history of block printing, a neat manuscript was pasted on a board with a certain thickness. The thin and almost transparent manuscript paper is stuck on the front of the board, the words are reversed, and the strokes are clear and distinguishable. The engraver used a carving knife to cut off the part of the page without handwriting, and it became raised words. When printing, apply ink to the raised font, cover it with paper, and gently wipe the back of the paper, and the handwriting will remain on the paper. On 20 15, Yu Wanqi was awarded the title of municipal intangible cultural heritage inheritor by Putian City. This is the result of carving with a knife in his hand for so many years.
It is precisely because of the simplicity and heavy spirit of these craftsmen that we have excavated the centuries-old inheritance behind the artifacts, and this "inheritance" can be well combined with today's practicality. The more ancient and traditional things are, the more texture and soul they will have due to long-term historical accumulation.
Even with the rapid development of industrialization all over the world, there are only a handful of people in this world who really concentrate on doing something they like and do it to the extreme. This is the group of people mentioned in Attention. Although they are craftsmen from different regions and different ages, their persistence in traditional culture is the same. It is because of that love that you will have the spirit of persistence. It is because of this group of people that these traditional crafts can be passed down.
Back to the program itself, the second season of the documentary "Attention" jointly produced by Iqiyi and Blue Elephant Media and Jindao Group has become a clear stream among many online programs in China since it was launched on June 30, 65438. In the second season of "Attention", a more difficult entry point was chosen, that is, taking pictures of artifacts that ordinary impetuous urbanites usually don't notice, not only artifacts, but also the spirit of people behind the artifacts. Outside the busy city life, people have entered a world with profound traditional culture, telling the story of a "contemporary craftsman"' s lonely exploration, the protection passed down from generation to generation and the skills passed down for thousands of years.
And the so-called "ingenuity", it is difficult not to feel lonely without loneliness.
Therefore, it is worth a book. Compared with the first season, the theme of "land is gold" in the second season has been precipitated and upgraded as a whole. The program group filmed the life and spirit of the craftsman with the heart of the craftsman. Slow, but not boring, it only creates a time for the audience to fully show the craftsman's mood, and also leaves enough time for the program to explore traditional crafts and trace back to traditional culture. The beauty of artifacts revealed between a hammer and a dozen strokes is also the flash of wisdom of our ancestors. The second season of Concern pursues how to restore the spirit of seeking shining in this flash.
The more persistent the craftsman is, the more admired the viewer will be. From Attention, we can feel once again that in history, the wisdom and skills of China craftsmen have amazed the world in terms of food, clothing, art and architecture, which should not be lost in modern times, so "contemporary craftsmen" are more precious. It is precisely because of these bloody or persistent craftsmen that traditional skills can be continued and developed.
Traditional culture has been truly passed down here.
