Xuzhou has jurisdiction over five municipal districts, two county-level cities and three counties, with a total area of 1 1258 square kilometers and a population of 9,083,800. Xuzhou, referred to as "Xu" for short, was called Pengcheng in ancient times. It is a prefecture-level city and sub-central city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. It is a national historical and cultural city approved by the State Council, a national comprehensive transportation hub and a central city of Huaihai Economic Zone.

Xuzhou is located in the southeast of North China Plain and the northwest of Jiangsu Province. The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through it, and the Longhai Railway and beijing-shanghai railway meet here. It is known as the thoroughfare of five provinces.

Terrain:

The terrain of Xuzhou is mainly plain, which accounts for about 90% of the city's area. The overall topography of the plain decreases from northwest to southeast, with an average slope of 1/7000- 1/8000, and an altitude of 30-50 meters. There are some hills and mountains in the middle and east of Xuzhou. The elevation of hills is generally around 100-200m, and the hilly area accounts for about 9.4% of the whole city.

The hills and mountains in Xuzhou are divided into two groups. One group is located in the middle of the city, with different mountain heights. Dadong Mountain in central jiawang district is the highest peak in the city, with an altitude of 36 1 meter. The other group is located in the east of the urban area, with the highest point of Maling Mountain in the north of xinyi city, with an altitude of 122.9 meters.
