What is aerial photography?

The Wright brothers invented the plane in 1903, but it was not used for aerial photography at that time. Until 1909, a cinematographer followed Wright to shoot the first film based on an airplane.

On April 23 this year, when the Wright brothers were training naval officers in Italy, they put a camera on the wing and took the world's first real aerial photo.

During the First World War, for military reconnaissance, photography on the plane was paid attention to and developed rapidly, so aerial photogrammetry was born.

Aerial photogrammetry in China began at 193 1. In August this year, the General Bureau of Land Survey of the General Staff of Nanjing National Government formally established an aerial photography team on the basis of purchasing aerial photography planes, aerial photography equipment and trainers.

In the next few years, this team mainly surveyed the military fortress maps with the scale of 1: 10000 and 1: 25000 in some areas, and the topographic maps with the scale of 1:50000 in Hunan, Guizhou and Chengdu-Chongqing.
