The darkroom experiment of 1988 is true. A photographer's experiment in a darkroom led to the first plastic. In the 1950s, Parks studied different methods of treating collodion. Parks tried to mix collodion with camphor. To Parks' surprise, after mixing, a flexible hard material was produced. Parks called it Paxsin, which was the first plastic.
