Aperture photography skill

Lead: Aperture, shutter and ISO value will all affect the exposure of photos. Whether we know or not about photography, these three terms are familiar to us. Whether we use a monocular camera, a small consumer or even a mobile phone, as long as we know how to use aperture, shutter and ISO value, we can get an image closer to what we want.

The following aperture photography skills will give novice friends some easy-to-understand basic explanations and simple application methods.

What is an aperture?

The size of the aperture will affect the amount of light entering and the depth of field. The smaller the f value of the aperture, the larger the aperture. Under the same ISO and shutter conditions, the larger the aperture, the brighter the picture will be. The relationship between aperture and depth of field: F2.8 large aperture is easy to cause shallow depth of field with blurred background; With the small aperture of F 16, the subject and background will be clearer.

Often recommended to buy? Big aperture? In addition to taking shallow depth-of-field photos with blurred background, the success rate of taking stable images in indoor and dark scenes will also be improved. For dim or indoor scenes, it is recommended to shoot with a large aperture (ISO 500, F2.8, 1/60s).

When shooting a landscape, you can reduce the aperture to F8-F 16 (each camera is different from the lens) to get a clear image as a whole.

Shutter, safety shutter

Shutter speed represents the length of exposure time. Usually, in the case of sufficient light, the shorter the exposure time, and in the case of insufficient light, the longer the exposure time. Usually, a tripod is needed to stabilize the camera for a long time exposure, so that the image will not produce shake afterimage.

Door B controls the opening time of the blinds by itself. When the shutter button is pressed, the shutter will open until the shutter button is released (using shutter B with cable release can avoid camera shaking when the shutter button is pressed).

Safety shutter, the slowest shutter value, to avoid image blur caused by hand shaking.

When teaching a novice, many seniors will tell him to pay attention to whether the shutter value is above 1/30s or above 1/60s, so as not to blur the image when shooting. This is based on a standard lens with a focal length of 50mm, so different lenses will have different calculation methods! For example, when shooting with a focal length of 200mm, the safety shutter value is about 1/200 s. If the focal length is 15mm, we still set the safety shutter to 1/30s.

Relationship between shutter speed and image

The exposure time is short, and the picture is still (F4 ISO 100, 0.6s).

Long exposure time, recording streamer trajectory (ISO 100, F 16, 8s).

ISO, sensitivity

ISO= sensitivity, the higher the sensitivity value, the more light is received. Under the same aperture and shutter conditions, the picture will be brighter with the increase of sensitivity. The noise (graininess) of the opposite picture will also increase.

Examples of ISO values (different brands and grades of cameras have obvious differences in ISO performance):

As can be seen from the figure, the higher the ISO, the heavier the noise, which also affects the color.

Besides AUTO, how to set ISO? !

When the outdoor sunshine is sufficient, it is suggested to lower the ISO value to obtain better images (ISO 160, F5.9,1160s).

Dim indoor scenes are prone to take shaky and blurred photos, which can improve ISO value and shutter speed to obtain stable images (ISO 500, F2, 1/80s).
