Why is Jiexi County called "River Slope"
Hepo, formerly an important town in the northwest of Jieyang County, is the administrative center of Lintiandu. 1965 Jiexi County, which was demolished in Jieyang County, was placed under Jiexi County and is now Jiexi County. This is the traffic artery in the border areas of Lufeng, Wuhua and Puning. Urban agglomeration began to form in the middle of Ming Dynasty. It started in a small village in the mountains. Because it is the transportation hub of the three counties, it was not until the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty that thousands of defenses were set up here. In the 12th year of Jiaqing (1807), Mianhu Inspection Department moved here and became the administrative center of Lintiandu. Hepo, which sounds like a title of respect for an old woman, is actually a place name. According to the "Jieyang County Records" published in 1994, there are two legends about the name of Hepo. It is said that this is Nanguan City in Lu Fengxian, which was once guarded by the army. Because Liu Sanhua fought here in the Northern Song Dynasty, Nanguan City was in ruins. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, an old woman named He opened a teahouse here to sell tea. She is kind-hearted, caring for passers-by and warm-hearted. This is the main road of traffic in several counties, with many passers-by and the fatigue of long journey. You can not only have a rest here, but also drink a bowl of fragrant tea, so the teahouse on the river slope is very popular with passers-by. Whether passers-by are hungry or not, they should rest here and talk about things. People want tea and water, and the river woman always welcomes them with a smile and gives them anything they want. People respectfully call her "He Po". Because there are still people selling tea at Nanguan site, there are more and more passers-by. Gradually, some people set up stalls here to sell the things that passers-by need, and some people sold the specialties in the mountains to passers-by, and gradually gathered more and more, becoming a temporary small market. Later, some foreigners came to trade daily necessities, bamboo and wood utensils, vegetables and sweets, knitted farm tools and aquatic fish and shrimp. The vicinity of Chaliao has become a busy city. Someone saw someone else buy a satisfactory product and asked, "Where did you buy it?" The answer is always: "He bought it in Bona." Unconsciously, people's address has also become a place name. Later, someone saw a big river rushing here from a fertile mountainous area. They thought that the name "He" of this river was always more local than the surname "He" and was homophonic, so they changed it to "Hepo" and left the word "Po" as a memorial to the old lady. Another legend is that it was once the confluence of Lufeng River and Hengjiang River. Due to the age, the two rivers have silted up and become ordinary. Most of the local products in Jieyang, Puning, Lufeng, Wuhua and other border areas are distributed here and gradually become a market. The local dialect called "Fu" as "Fu". This market floats from two rivers, so it is called "Hepo". The two legends have their own reasons, and there is no need to investigate who is right or wrong. In a word, the river slope is located at the crossroads of four counties, and its geographical position is important. Once an ancient town, it is now Jiexi County. The river slope is located in the mountainous area, surrounded by Dushan, Mingshan and Jinshan, where the Hengjiang River and Lufeng River meet to form a small basin. The famous "Sanshanwang" ancestral temple is only two kilometers away from the county seat. Sanshanwang Temple is full of incense, spectacular architecture and endless stream of tourists. Sanshan Dawang Temple, formerly known as "Mingzuo Temple", is also known as "Lin Tianzu Temple". It is the oldest temple in Chaoshan area. The "landlord" in Chaoshan area (bless the god of a village) invited the king of the three mountains, so his temples can be seen everywhere. People in Taiwan Province Province believe in Sanshanwang very much, and there are about 130 large temples of Sanshanwang in Taiwan Province Province. In order to keep the overseas Chinese safe, the overseas Chinese also invited King Sanshan to pay homage to the overseas Chinese, so the incense of King Sanshan spread all over Southeast Asian countries.
