Diagnosis of ankle fracture

X-ray examination should take photos of ankle joint in the positive position, lateral position and ankle point.

According to the history of trauma, ankle pain and swelling deformity and X-ray manifestations, it is not difficult to diagnose the fracture. However, when the ankle joint is injured, sometimes there will be a high fracture of the fibula neck, so we should pay attention to the examination to avoid missed diagnosis. For high fracture of lateral ankle or fibula, the possibility of lower tibiofibular joint injury should be evaluated. In addition, we should also pay attention to other combined injuries, such as peripheral ligament injury, fibula tendon injury, achilles tendon injury, posterior tibial tendon injury, talus cartilage injury, neurovascular injury and so on.
