Gorky is a famous proletarian writer. His childhood life was very difficult. He only went to primary school for two years, and his youth was spent wandering.
Gorky was born in 1868 in a carpenter's family in Novgorod, Russia. When he was three years old, his father died of cholera, so his mother returned to her family with Gorky. Grandpa is the owner of the dyehouse. He treats people harshly and the family often quarrels. Only my grandmother is kind-hearted and often tells me Gorky's stories and sings folk songs. At the age of nine, his remarried mother sent him to primary school. Grandpa has many families, and soon he went bankrupt, so the life of the whole family became a problem. Because of poverty, Gorky can only wear his mother's leather shoes when he goes to school. His coat was changed by his grandmother's clothes, his shirt was yellow and his trousers were ugly. This suit attracted many classmates' ridicule, calling him a "garbage collector". Gorky, however, doesn't care about all this. He focuses on his studies. In order to reduce the burden on his family, he really used his rest day to pick up junk. He walked up and down the street with a big bag on his back, picking up discarded cloth, scraps of paper, bones, broken iron and so on. And then sell them to the waste disposal station for a few rubles. Gorky is an ambitious child. Although his family is poor, he studies hard. In the final exam, he was rewarded by the school for his excellent grades. The prize is a certificate and some books. Grandma was ill at that time and had no money to treat her. Gorky quickly finished reading the book and sold it, and the money was given to his grandmother for treatment.
However, my grandmother died soon. Soon, Gorky's grandfather told him to quit school and sent him to a shoe store as an apprentice. He is only 1 1 years old this year. Apprentices are very hard. They get up earlier than others every day, clean shoes and dust all the people in the shop, then light the stove, boil hot water, clean up the shop, get goods for customers and never rest. He couldn't stand this apprenticeship, so he escaped and became a dishwasher on a boat on the Volga River. Later, I worked as a night watchman, contractor and handyman. He wandered on the Volga River. The white sails on the river, the noisy cities and beautiful countryside along the river, and the local customs all make Gorky feel fresh. He made friends with dockers, cooks and others and heard many stories from them. This made him understand society and life. One of the chefs had a great influence on him. Chefs often bring books to him, and they read the works of Pushkin, Nikolai Nikolai Gogol and others together. They are often moved to tears by the stories in the book and worry about the fate of the characters in the book. These books inspired Gorky's wisdom and soul, and he became more and more inseparable from books. He feels that these books are like "the bells of a new life", alerting him from the darkness and urging him to observe and think about life.
At the age of fifteen, Gorky wandered to the famous city of Kazan and joined the ranks of stevedores. Here, he came into contact with some young people with revolutionary ideas, which refreshed him and made him more concerned about the society and the working people in dire straits. Later, Gorky traveled down the Volga River to tsaritsyn, Ukraine, Crimea, Caucasus and other places. He walked thousands of kilometers, did all kinds of hard work and learned all kinds of people. This made him not only understand the society, but also accumulated rich creative materials. Later, his autobiographical novels trilogy "Childhood", "On Earth" and "My University" all came from his own personal experience.
