Hainan Vocational and Technical College was founded in June 5438 +2000 10. In July, 2008, the college was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a national model higher vocational college construction plan. It has become one of the national 100 key demonstration higher vocational colleges and the only national demonstration higher vocational college in Hainan Province.

The college is located in Haikou, covering an area of 1032 mu, including two campuses, with a total construction area of 183000 square meters. According to the development strategy of "one province and two places" to build Hainan into a new industrial province, a tropical high-efficiency agricultural base and a tropical island leisure resort, the college has set up 42 majors closely around Hainan's pillar industries, covering tourism, economy and trade, biological sciences, traffic engineering, information engineering, art, applied foreign languages, civil engineering and other industries, among which animal husbandry is the only national-level boutique major in Hainan Higher Vocational College, and automobile application technology is Hainan. The college has three national-level excellent courses, such as online marketing practice, jewelry appraisal and technology, animal nutrition and feed, and eight provincial-level excellent courses, such as flower gardening post technology and animal genetics and breeding.

The college has the national demonstration training base supported by the central government, the 53rd National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute of Hainan Province, the labor transfer training base in poverty-stricken areas of Hainan Province, the national vocational qualification appraisal training institution of e-commerce and other vocational training institutions.
