Mistakes in taking landscape photos
The misunderstanding of taking landscape photos 1 the aperture is adjusted to the minimum.
When shooting a landscape, should the aperture be adjusted to the minimum to obtain a greater depth of field? Many photographers, especially newcomers, have a positive attitude towards this.
In fact, this idea is wrong. If the aperture is too small, there will be "diffraction" phenomenon in optics, which will reduce the image quality.
What is diffraction? To put it simply, it is the phenomenon that when light passes through a small hole, it will spread in a circle around.
After the light passes through the small hole, it spreads around in a ring shape.
When the aperture is too small, the light entering the lens will diffract and spread around, weakening the intensity of the main light and producing stray light in the lens.
As a result, the image quality is degraded.
Too small an aperture will blur the details of the photo.
A small aperture is necessary, but not too small. When closing the aperture, it is always larger than the minimum aperture 1 to 2 steps. Generally speaking, an aperture of f/8 is enough.
In addition, landscape works do not have to have a great depth of field. In some works, setting the foreground reasonably and blurring the background can make the picture more artistic.
2 Default autofocus
Many people trust the camera's autofocus system, which is really competent in most cases, except the following scenes:
The contrast is too large or too small; The focal length is too far; Shoot through obstacles such as fences, trees, glass, etc. In these three scenes, autofocus will appear inaccurate, resulting in local blurring of the picture.
The shooting range of landscape photography is generally large, which accords with the second scene; In a landscape movie, a foreground scene is usually added to the picture, which is in line with scene 3.
In order to avoid unnecessary picture blur, remember to adjust the focus mode to manual focus when shooting scenery. Can be adjusted on the body or lens.
When focusing manually, it is advisable to set the focus at about one-third of the depth of field of the whole picture, so as to ensure that the foreground and the extremely far background have certain clarity.
Of course, this law of thirds is not absolute. If there is only one main scene in the picture, just focus directly.
3 Enable "Image Optimization"
Many newer cameras have the function of "image optimization", which is actually the automatic post-processing function that comes with the camera.
Among them, the landscape option, when selected, will increase the saturation and contrast of the picture and make the picture look more gorgeous.
Therefore, some people think that landscape photos should be processed with the camera's own image optimization function.
The effect of the camera's own landscape image optimization function
Perhaps for most subjects, this view is not wrong. Blue sea and blue sky, brilliant sunset, green mountains and green waters, these themes all need bright colors.
But some themes not only don't need bright colors, but also need to reduce saturation, and even turn the picture into black and white to create a certain atmosphere.
For example, the misty scenery of Jiangnan water town needs a mysterious and hazy atmosphere to create an artistic conception similar to ink landscape painting.
The scene with dense lead clouds before the storm can reduce the saturation and enhance the contrast between light and shadow, which is helpful to highlight the main body of clouds and make the picture more dignified and depressed.
When shooting historical sites and cultural relics, reducing saturation or even decoloring will help to create an atmosphere of primitive simplicity and vicissitudes.
4 Turn on automatic white balance
Generally speaking, turning on automatic white balance is the right choice, and the camera will automatically adjust the color temperature to make the color look more natural and closer to the "real" scene.
However, automatic white balance is not omnipotent, and sometimes it will distort the restoration of color.
Automatic white balance is very easy to make mistakes when the brightness of ambient light is insufficient, such as rainy weather, or the color temperature of ambient light is too high or too low, such as sunset. At this time we need to manually adjust the white balance.
On the other hand, the automatic white balance works normally, which makes the colors in the photos close to reality, which is not necessarily a good thing for landscape photos.
When shooting scenery, we may need to add a certain tone to the picture to express a certain emotion, and automatic white balance will become an obstacle.
You can practice adjusting the white balance manually to make the same picture present a completely different atmosphere. This is the best use of white balance.
label
One of the greatest charms of photography lies in its complexity, diversity and variability.
No skill has ever worked, and there is no absolutely correct setting. We should try and change according to the actual situation and shooting needs.
It is considered that "you must set this way to take a good photo" or "you can take a good photo with this setting" is the biggest and most fatal misunderstanding.
