It turned out that on May 19, 2003, on the opening day of "Beautiful Shanxi-Another Eye to Know the Treasure" and "Exhibition of 100 Ancient Mural Sites in Shanxi Province", Wupu 'ao's 87-year-old mother passed away. Among the ancient murals in Shaanxi, one is highly praised by experts, that is, the Jin Dynasty mural "Restaurant Street Map" of Yanshan Temple in Fan Shi. He restored the ancient murals in Shanxi in a new form, gathered things scattered among the people, and made the murals visible, tangible and learned. While recording the tradition, he also showed him that today's murals are seriously damaged due to poor protection. He turned on the computer, clicked on the photographed works, and said to me, "You see, due to the influence of natural and human factors and the change of living environment, these rare cultural relics have been seriously affected, and many diseases such as fracture, armor-breaking, hollowing, crisp alkali, falling off and pollution have appeared, and quite a few of them are already in serious danger. I hope to take this exhibition as an opportunity to better protect the ancient murals in Shanxi and let more people know these precious heritages left by our ancestors. "

Upo fell in love with photography when he was a soldier in the army. After his job-hopping, he used holidays and spare time to travel to and from several shooting spots in Beijing and other places many times, and almost all the transfer fees, wages and bonuses were used for photography consumption. After he returned to work in Shanxi in 2009, his wife worried about his health and sometimes came from Beijing to Taiyuan to take care of him, but he either went to the countryside to shoot or looked up information in the study. Mr. Wu's good friend and famous calligrapher recorded such a thing in his blog: "At a photo exhibition, I went to see Mrs. Pu 'er and said a bunch of words of thanks to her. Without the understanding and support of his family, it is difficult for him to have today's achievements. He has severe diabetes, but he seldom cares about himself and is always ready to help others. Every time I travel, Upo's own photographic equipment weighs dozens of pounds, but he still grabs my camera bag and climbs the mountain. Mr upo is known as "desperate martial arts" in photography. "This stems from my childhood experience. I lived on campus when I was in middle school, and my family was poor. I can only bring a small bag of raw sweet potatoes to school every time, and I don't even have money for school meals. So I have developed a self-reliant character since I was a child. When I encounter any difficulties, I must find a way to solve them myself. Plus my 2 1 year military career, I have a passion to fight to the end no matter what I do. Once, in order to go back to Shanxi to shoot, I couldn't wait to get on the train with my shoulder bag on my back as soon as the family leave was approved. After arriving at the station, I walked dozens of kilometers without rest for six consecutive days. I really didn't give up until I got there 1May, 999, I took photos with two friends on the mountain. Facing the unfinished mountain road, we hiked with heavy photographic equipment. At that time, it was estimated that the mountain road could not be so high and so far, so I took hypoglycemic drugs in advance. I didn't expect to walk for eight hours. It was terrible. When I got to the mountain, my face turned pale, I was sweating all over and my blood sugar was too low. I sat on the ground and thought it would all be over. My friends around me quickly stuffed sugar and chocolate into my mouth, and it took me more than half an hour to recover. Now that I think about it, I am still a little scared. "
Professional books such as Outline of China Mural History, Outline of Oriental Mural History, Lecture on Chinese and Foreign Art History, and County Records of Shaanxi Province occupy considerable space in Mr. Ao's four bookcases. Uppo has a unique view on mural photography: "Mural photography is different from general subjects, and it reproduces the artistic value of ancient murals through the documentary characteristics of photography, so authenticity is the first element. Before shooting, I should prepare carefully, study hard, get familiar with the nature of the subject, determine the picture, and choose the machine and lens according to the content. I usually use a 4×5 or 8× 10 large format landline. The advantage of this camera is that the front and rear frames can be raised and lowered, and the axis can be moved left and right, so as to adjust the perspective deformation caused by different angles of the lens to the mural, and ensure the depth of field and the clear range of the mural with a smaller aperture. It is best to choose a header that conforms to people's visual habits. The second more important factor is the accuracy of color reproduction. It should not only show the unique soil texture of ancient murals and the dust-sealing tempering of time, but also reflect the body line and quaint colors of ancient murals. This requires that in the process of shooting, we must master the shooting angle and use light. I often choose a camera to shoot in parallel with murals, and choose a reflector to brighten the light source. For this reason, I specially made five or six super-large reflectors, which use side light when lighting to enhance the depth of murals. Remember not to exaggerate, distort or embellish when shooting. The third element is to ensure clarity. A tripod must be used when shooting, which is conducive to composition and focusing, avoiding the jitter caused by hand-held shooting, and truly presenting the solemn, quiet, heavy and simple artistic characteristics of ancient murals. "
