Coccidiosis in dogs and cats

clinical symptoms

Coccidiosis is a chronic disease caused by coccidia, and it is a disease that highly infects humans and many animals. It mainly infects animals' bronchus, lungs, diaphragm, lymph nodes, stomach, spleen, kidney and other organs and tissues. Can be divided into primary and disseminated.

1. Primary: divided into primary pulmonary coccidiosis and primary cutaneous coccidiosis. The former is mild infection with no symptoms, or only bronchial symptoms, including cough, dyspnea, chest X-ray, nodular consolidation and temporary lung cavity; In the latter case, skin lesions become induration, ulcer surface appears in the center, and related lymph node lesions also appear, but it is rare in clinic.

2. Dissemination: In the primary lesion, endospore spread to other parts of the body with blood flow and lymph nodes, mainly invading the lungs, lymph nodes, bones and eyes. The clinical manifestations are persistent fever, anorexia, cough, dyspnea, emaciation, diarrhea, joint swelling, limping and inflammation or suppuration of peripheral lymph nodes. X-ray photography of the lung showed that there were hollow lesions or nodules in the lung and hilar lymph nodes were enlarged. Most dogs are accompanied by bone injuries and lameness. Eye trauma is characterized by blushing, poor eyesight, and even keratitis, anterior uveitis and secondary glaucoma.
