Lavender is a common variety of lavender, also known as true lavender or English lavender. Originated in the western Mediterranean, it has high oil yield and the highest travel quality. The refined essential oil can be directly used on the skin. The main planting areas are Britain in Europe, alpine areas in Bulgaria, Australia in Oceania and Qingshui area in Gansu, Chinese mainland.

Lavender with broad leaves is wider than lavender with narrow leaves, and its oil yield and quality are average. Generally, there are many horticultural plants.

Hybrid lavender is a hybrid variety of narrow-leaf lavender and wide-leaf lavender. The oil yield is the highest and the oil quality is high, so it is widely used in perfumes, soaps and daily chemical products. It is also the most widely planted lavender variety in the world, mainly planted in Provence and Yili, Xinjiang, Chinese mainland.

In addition, many different varieties have been cultivated at present. Other species that are often planted for viewing are: lavender with fern leaf, lavender with tooth leaf, lavender with canary, lavender with cotton wool, lavender with feather leaf, lavender with Spanish leaf and lavender with green color.

Lavender is mainly classified as native lavender, also known as British lavender, which has the best quality and is mostly used to make basic perfumes and spices, with thin leaves and short spikes.

Lavender with long spike, also known as lavender with mint, has wider leaves and longer stems and spikes.

Mixed lavender is a mixture of native lavender and long spike lavender, which is planted in large quantities, and lavender is mostly in the flower fields of Provence, France.

The winner of Mrs. Lavender's National Flower Variety Breeding Award is the most striking potted combination. It is most suitable for annual cultivation. It will be sown this autumn, with lush and fragrant flowers and neat plants in full bloom next spring.

Lavender in Munster has light blue flowers from June to August every year, with gray-green leaves, lace and fragrance. Flowers bloom later than "Mrs. Lavender" and the uniformity is not as good as "Mrs. Lavender".
