What camera is good for street shooting?

Haha, I lied to you. Do painters have the best brushes and street photographers have the best cameras? As the old saying goes, a camera is just a tool. Different cameras can be used according to different shooting situations, tasks and needs.

Street photography doesn't have to be too obsessed with the camera. People who are obsessed with photographic equipment are often the chief culprit of poor eyesight. Therefore, many people fall into this trap. In the endless pursuit, they hope to buy newer and more expensive cameras, bodies and lenses to help them get better photos. But most of the time, it's frustrating. More advanced cameras have not made the image better. It must also be admitted that a good camera can really give you better clarity, resolution and color images, but in the final analysis, a better photo is more than that.

When I take part in street photography, I want to believe in a strategy, that is, to use as few cameras and lenses as possible. So, I began to like the 3/4 micro camera and its 28mm fixed focus lens. Besides paraxial cameras, such as Leica M9, the originator of street shooting, henri cartier bresson only used a 50mm fixed-focus lens all his life.

Nowadays, many street photographers shoot with digital SLR cameras, which has become a large-scale fashion trend. Mainly the image quality, shutter speed and rich lens group selection of this camera. However, an important disadvantage of using SLR cameras in the street is that they are large and bulky, too conspicuous and scary. In addition, due to this fact, the mirror inside it will disturb the quiet scene and make a loud noise when taking pictures. Then again, as long as you think you can work hard to overcome the above shortcomings, it is ok to take street photography with a SLR camera.

At present, there are many high-end DC cameras suitable for street photographers, such as Panasonic lx5, Sigma dp and Ricoh GRD. Their advantages are small size, almost no shutter sound, and more importantly, inconspicuous. However, the headache is still the shutter lag. When catching moving people, we should be extra cautious and master an advance amount, but this amount is really difficult to grasp.

Then the micro-camera that stands out between SLR and small DC is undoubtedly a weapon for street photographers. It not only has the function of a SLR camera, but also is as light as a small DC as Sony, Panasonic and Olympus.
