Millennium Lake, which was filmed in China, was once filmed by South Korean director Shen Shangyu in 1969. When film director Guangxun Li was filming one of his works a few years ago, "Millennium Lake" is the fourth Korean costume film shot in China after "Flying Dance" and "Samurai". In addition to the director and actors from South Korea, the crew of this film also gathered senior filmmakers from mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea, including Lv Le, who won the Cannes Photography Award, as well as artist Shen Lide, fashion designer Zou Jianhua, and Yuan De, a famous martial artist in Hong Kong.

The crew originally planned to shoot in Gyeongju and other places in South Korea, but it is difficult to find buildings close to the ancient style in South Korea. If it is to be rebuilt, it will cost as much as 4 billion won to build the palace during the Silla Dynasty, which is obviously impossible for a film with a budget of only 6 billion won.

Moving to Hengdian, Zhejiang, China saved a lot of money for the crew, because there is the Qin Shihuang Palace built by Zhang Yimou for filming Hero, which can be used as the palace of the true saint queen Silla in Millennium Lake with a little modification.
