Academic Research of College of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Northwest Normal University

By the end of 20 13, teachers from the School of Geography and Environment of Northwest Normal University had applied for 460 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation, and 460 projects of various provincial, ministerial and bureau levels, with research funding of nearly 50 million yuan, published high-level scientific research papers 1226, won 4 1 and published monographs/kloc. College is the professional committee of ecological restoration of China Ecological Economics Society, affiliated unit of Gansu Geographical Society, and governing unit of China Geographical Society, China Ecological Economics Society, China Natural Resources Society, Gansu Surveying and Mapping Society, Remote Sensing Society, Meteorology Society, Land Society and Geography Teaching and Research Society. Sponsored by two academic journals, Resources, Environment and Development and Ecological Economics approved by Gansu Provincial Science and Technology Department and the student journal Polaris.

Professional associations affiliated to the college:

Gansu Geographical Society: a provincial local society under the Chinese Geographical Society. The purpose of the Society is to unite the vast number of geographers in the province to carry out geographical scientific research, promote the development of geographical education, popularize geographical scientific knowledge, and serve the national and local ecological construction, environmental protection and sustainable economic development. The Society consists of a professional committee on human geography, a professional committee on physical geography and Quaternary, a professional committee on map and GIS, and a professional committee on geography teaching and popular science in middle schools. Professional Committee of Ecological Restoration: a professional society under the China Society of Ecological Economics. The aim of the Society is to organize a large number of professional scientific and technological workers in ecological economics, environmental economics, geography, ecology, regional economics, theoretical economics and other disciplines based on the extremely fragile ecological environment in the western region, and to carry out theoretical and practical research on the restoration and reconstruction of ecological environment, ecological economy and sustainable development in the cold and arid areas of western China. Resources, Environment and Development is a continuous internal periodical (quarterly) approved by Gansu Provincial Press and Publication Bureau, which was founded in 2000.
