Mary's photos have been exhibited in many parts of the world. She also worked as an assistant producer in the film Heart of America (1992) directed by her husband. Its photo collection and roving exhibition "mary ellen mark: American Odyssey" includes photos taken in the United States in the past 35 years, which is published by Aperture Press. The roving exhibition was first exhibited in the Pennsylvania Museum of Art in the spring of 2000, and is being exhibited all over the world.
