How to carry out the auxiliary examination of thoracic, rib and mediastinal diseases?

(1) X-ray examination: chest X-ray; Branch airway sectional angiography; Mediastinal pneumography. Evaluate the size and location of the tumor.

(2) Computed X-ray tomography (CT): providing more accurate tumor range. The relationship between posterior mediastinal tumor invading chest wall and destroying vertebral body and intraspinal tumor.

(3) Ultrasonography: Make clear the nature of tumor (solid and cystic) and its relationship with adjacent tissues and organs.

(4) Percutaneous biopsy: It can be conducted under the guidance of CT, and the accuracy rate of cytological diagnosis obtained by percutaneous biopsy in differentiating benign from malignant mediastinal tumors is 80% -90%.

(5) Diagnosed by mediastinoscopy or thoracoscopic biopsy.
