How about German B WUV mirror?
But some photographers who pursue bright colors prefer to use Japanese mirrors. Because German ytterbium is a bit quite satisfactory.
High quality lens from B+W, the perfect combination of tradition and innovation.
All this comes from "Made in Germany".
B+W Company was founded by Biermann and Weber in 1947 (the trademark of B+W was combined by the names of the two founders), and then merged with Schneider Company in 1985, and the B+W filter was expanded in Bad Kreuznach, Germany (Schneider Company in191. Thanks to the cutting-edge optical technology research and development strength, B+W filter products stand out in the field of multi-layer terbium plating (MC). Therefore, B+W Company became the first manufacturer in the world to provide waterproof and antifouling MRC multilayer terbium-plated lenses.
The birth of filter is to solve the difficult problem of photography, but the creative application of filter can bring unimaginable effect. They can change and control colors; Strengthen or weaken the contrast; Prevent some light from entering; It can produce an unpredictable picture effect with the naked eye and achieve the extremely primitive use purpose.
Filters can achieve special effects that cannot be created under normal circumstances in the simplest and most intuitive way. At the same time, many effects can't be achieved by digital post! Of course, the filter products developed by B+W for digital photography are more forward-looking and of the highest quality, which are perfectly compatible with digital cameras and lens systems on the market.
In order to achieve perfect optical quality and strict requirements from top photographic equipment manufacturers, all the lens glass raw materials of B+W filter come from Schott glass, which is one of the best German optical glass manufacturers in the world.
In the B+W factory in Bad Cruznach, Germany, the filter products are produced by advanced industrial equipment, which not only reach the extremely precise processing level, but also have a wide variety and diverse caliber specifications. All production steps of each filter element are subject to extremely strict quality management to ensure that the highest quality standard of B+W is finally achieved. All this can make us confidently promise that B+W products are made with a rigorous attitude. And continuous improvement and innovation, so that users can achieve higher or even the highest image quality, which is also one of the purposes of B+W.
Relatively speaking, cheap filters will reduce the imaging quality of high-quality lenses. In other words, choosing a filter is as important as choosing a lens. Through this manual, I hope to help you understand and know the brand B+W, and remember that the image quality is often determined by the filter in front of the camera.
The computer-controlled production process ensures the quality of B+W layer by layer.
B+W lenses only use the best optical glass materials.
B+W uses the most advanced vacuum coating equipment to treat the lens surface.
From design to final inspection, the manufacturing process of each stage is strictly controlled to ensure the complete presentation of optical image quality.
B+W lens technology
B+W lens electroplating
At first glance, the electroplating process of the filter seems to be less important than the lens. Because the filter has only two air contact surfaces, similarly, the polarizing film of the B+W polarizer is integrated with the glass, and there are only two air contact surfaces. The photographic lens has at least 6 to 8 air contact surfaces, so it is extremely important to use terbium plating to increase the light transmittance of the lens.
The question is, can you turn a blind eye to the negative factors brought by the filter without terbium plating? Recent research shows that high-level electroplating technology can really optimize image quality, especially in scenes with high contrast and high brightness light sources.
The data show that the light loss rate of two air contact surfaces of a common single-layer terbium-plated filter is about 3%, while that of a multi-layer terbium-plated filter is only 0.5%. Single-layer terbium-plated filter can reduce glare and reflection 1/3, while the possibility of glare and reflection of multi-layer terbium-plated MC filter is as low as116.
When two filters are stacked together, the requirements for coating are higher. When there is a little light source in the picture, the repeated reflection between two superimposed filters may cause more serious glare and fog. At this time, the possibility of interference caused by single-layer terbium-plated filter is about 1/8, while the possibility of interference caused by multi-layer terbium-plated filter is only 1/70.
B+W MRC multilayer waterproof and antifouling terbium coating is not only a special and effective multilayer terbium coating, but also has higher hardness than the glass itself, thus preventing the surface of the filter from being scratched. Waterproof and antifouling performance can also effectively keep the surface of the lens clean and keep the optical performance of the lens for a long time.
B+W filter products have two different models: single-layer terbium plating and MRC multi-layer terbium plating. Details can be found in the B+W lens parameter comparison table.
B+W lens connecting ring
When buying filter products, of course, the quality of lens glass and the technological level of terbium plating should be considered first. But please don't forget the workmanship of the lens connecting ring, which is also very important. The connecting ring of the lens must be strong enough to protect the fragile glass. It is best not to always hold the filter in your hand, and only take it off the lens or store it properly in the filter box when necessary.
The thickness of the connecting ring should be just right, and there should be no angle occlusion on the wide-angle lens. The printed font on the metal connecting ring should have a three-dimensional effect, so that it will not be worn after long-term use. The inner ring of the connecting ring must be anti-reflective to make it look like a non-reflective black surface. The connecting ring of B+W filter meets all the above requirements to achieve impeccable quality.
B+W filter ring is made of durable brass on precision CNC die. The latest B+W filter is made of thin and strong space metal, which is more accurate. In modern autofocus cameras, lighter filters can undoubtedly reduce the burden of lens driving motor. At present, the filter lens of B+W is fixed in the connecting ring through the threaded pressure ring, and the surface of the connecting ring is plated with chromium metal, which further increases the durability, and the inside of the connecting ring has undergone strict antireflection treatment.
The standard B+W filter ring has been designed to be thin enough, so there will be no dark corner phenomenon on the general wide-angle lens. For ultra-wide-angle lenses with a particularly wide field of view, you can choose a wide-angle special filter designed by B+W SLIM ultra-thin ring. Provide Hasselblad and Lulai special filter interfaces and special bayonet filter products.
Function of color filter
The color filter will absorb the complementary part of the external light and let the rest pass. For example, if a yellow filter is used, the blue light will be basically absorbed and the remaining colored light will be transmitted to produce yellow. The dark yellow filter with low transmittance not only absorbs blue light, but also absorbs a lot of light of other colors. When shooting black-and-white film with a yellow filter, the blue sky will appear very dark because the blue color is absorbed by the filter, and the tone of the sky in the photo will become lower. The color filter installed in front of the lens will change the brightness and density ratio of incident light, so it may mislead the metering system and need corresponding exposure compensation.
Optical requirements of filtering technology
Photographic filters are directly involved in the process of light forming images. In order not to affect the quality of the photo, they only indicate its light absorption characteristics and cannot have any other optical effects. The surface of the filter must be absolutely flat (without any protrusions) and very smooth (irregular surface will lead to scattering and soft focus). Only pure optical glass can meet the complete light transmission performance (ordinary glass will cause blurred images), and the lens surface needs to be as non-reflective as possible (reflection will cause glare).
The most advanced production technology
Why do top photographers all over the world choose B+W filters? Because B+W has been at the forefront of filter production technology, it has been a professional filter manufacturer for decades. With rich production experience, the unique technology of optical glass and antireflection coating has been carefully brewed, which is not unrelated to the close cooperation promoted by Schott Glass. The continuous maintenance of advanced machine quality control provides a guarantee for manufacturing first-class products.
