Is My Road adapted from a true story?

It's not a real story adaptation, but it has a story background.

The film was inspired by the photos of China and Asian prisoners of war taken by allied photographers after World War II, among which the most famous photo was that of Yang Jiangyong. The story background of the film, from North Korea in the late 1920s to the Mongolian battlefield in the late 1930s and Normandy in the 1940s, almost spanned the period before and after World War II.
