Find the direction

Equipment is important, but not the most important.

I won't deny the importance of equipment. Some photographic subjects, such as birds, ecology, sports, etc. Without the right equipment, you can't even shoot excellent works. But it's easy for beginners to get too addicted to equipment and forget their personal skills. If you are a novice, don't worry too much about the quality of the equipment. Nowadays, the performance of cameras is excellent, and the performance of cameras at the same price is similar. If you have two cameras with similar prices, of course, you want to buy the best product from the standpoint of consumers, even if it is only ahead in the sharpness of 1%, but using equipment with strong sharpness of 1% will not make you a good photographer. A penny for a penny is also applicable to photographic equipment, and it is not wrong to buy the most advanced ones within your ability. It doesn't matter if you can only buy an entry-level camera. An entry-level camera can definitely make a masterpiece.

Lens > camera

Many seniors will tell you that it is best not to buy a camera, but to buy a lens as much as possible. From an economic point of view, the price of cameras has dropped rapidly, but the second-hand price of high-end lenses has been stable. The price of a lens that has been used for ten years will not drop much. On the contrary, a digital camera that has been used for ten years is definitely worthless. The taste of a good mirror is different, so the effect of a good mirror with a portal machine must be better than that of a poor mirror with a top machine.

Don't be a fundamentalist.

When you have learned all kinds of basic knowledge and are familiar with it, don't stick to the rules. For example, someone pointed out that my brother didn't know how to use F2.8 and iso 1600 to shoot scenery, but who said that F11+ISO100 was necessary to shoot scenery? If you can only hold it with your hands, you must shoot flexibly. Every suggestion in the album is a suggestion. If you are not required to shoot X, the setting must be Y. When you understand the meaning behind each suggestion, you should break it under appropriate circumstances. The premise is that you must be familiar with the basic knowledge, otherwise it is not a violation, but a random shot.
