Key points and skills of portrait model tourism shooting

Lead: Every summer solstice, there will always be typhoons or thunderstorms to ruin the game and disrupt the original shooting schedule. At this time, if one's fingers itch and you want to take a photo outside, you might as well start with Motel, which will definitely make you feel full of satisfaction. Here we will briefly analyze the main points and tips of Motel's travel shooting, hoping to bring you some help and guidance in image building.

The focus and key point of portrait model travel shooting: the choice of motel type

In order to meet the market demand, in addition to a larger venue, Taiwan Province Motel's room theme is also unique. Therefore, players must first confirm the image style and direction before traveling, so as to choose the appropriate shooting room type from many motels. Taking this special production as an example, we set the style as lovely and casual, so we chose Mulan Fashion Boutique Hotel with simple and generous room design as the main shooting location, and the time was set at about 2-4 hours (including lighting time).

▲ First determine the shooting style and direction, so as to select a suitable shooting room from many motels.

Preparation of photographic equipment

Motel portrait photography can only use the existing equipment, but if you want to shoot good works, you'd better bring a lamp to assist, which can effectively overcome the complex light source of the motel and make the image creation more in line with your expectations. The common external flash or outdoor light is quite suitable, but from the light quality or the difficulty of control, we will recommend the use of outdoor lights. Although it will be a little troublesome to carry, it will definitely be returned to you in terms of image quality. As for single lamp or double lamp? If you have enough shooting time and have a certain understanding of light control, we will recommend using double lights. On the contrary, we will play with single light first, and then go to the field of double light when we are interested.

Communication between model shooting scale and clothing

Because of the proliferation of "color" filmmakers, the original simple travel photography creation has been demonized. Therefore, it is suggested that players who intend to try Motel travel photography in the future find familiar models to start cooperation, which will be helpful to the shooting process on the basis of certain trust. In addition, the shooting size and clothing requirements must also be clearly communicated with the model in advance before shooting. Generally speaking, novices can choose cooler clothes (such as cute, hot pants, swimsuits? ), after accumulating certain works or familiarity, move towards a cooler scale.

Motel application scenario

Unless you are shooting a theme room, the shooting scenes available in each motel are similar. Generally speaking, such as big beds, pillows, armchairs, bathtubs/baths, large mirror tables, windows/French windows, swimming pools, shower rooms and room beautification? Such scenes are quite good shooting scenes, so as long as you have an idea, you can shoot satisfactory works through the above scenes. In addition, if you are a novice photographer, I suggest that you can surf the Internet or buy books, learn from the shooting experience of other predecessors, and get a preliminary understanding of how the picture is conceived before shooting, which will bring a lot of help to the improvement of photography skills and the shooting process. In order to let readers have a deeper understanding of Motel's travel photography creation, we explain it with examples and words, hoping to bring some help to your image creation.

Big bed scene

The big bed is one of the scenes that Motel must shoot, because it can not only make the model feel relaxed, but also show the cute, shy and even flattering side of the model through the guidance of posture. But if you want to shoot a good work in bed, you must first choose the right color of clothes, otherwise it will easily blend in with the background and the shooting effect will be greatly reduced. Take this special production as an example, because we already know in advance that the sheets and background are light with beige, so we specially let Model prepare a contrasting pink dress to avoid the above dilemma.

In this scene, because the light is dim and complicated, we use two external lighting lamps to supplement the light. One lamp hit the ceiling to enhance the background light, and the other lamp hit the model's face with a tracing paper. Generally speaking, we are used to setting the background light first, and then fine-tuning the output of another lamp, which makes it easier to grasp the shooting rhythm and light quality performance. As for the bed, because the model is more relaxed, she can play well in kneeling position, lying position or prone position, and can easily shoot various video works.

Large French window/landscape

Windows or large French windows are also good places for portrait photography, but the premise is that the lighting must be good, otherwise the imaging effect is not ideal. Generally speaking, most motels don't have good lighting conditions, and even if they do, they still need to be moderately enhanced by artificial light sources to shoot portraits with balanced exposure and low contrast. Take this special production as an example. Although Motel has a large floor-to-ceiling window to use, the light falling outside the window is not strong, so in the shooting process, we use two lamps to supplement the light, one is placed outside the window to create a similar sunshine effect, and the other is placed indoors to enhance the background light. As for the contrast and shadow of the model face, we use a reflector to correct it. In the application of the scene, in addition to bringing the curtain tulle into the picture concept, actually moving a chair near the window can also create different image effects, for example, players who spend more time shooting can also try to have a look.

Dresser/dresser

Gorgeous mirrors/dressing tables are also a favorite shooting scene for many photographers. Generally speaking, shooting this scene only needs to master two points. First, focus on the image in the model mirror and bring out the depth and situational atmosphere of the work through expression guidance; Second, use props (such as lipstick, painting, eye shadow brush? ), can bring the finishing touch to the work. As for the lighting configuration, as shown in the figure, one lamp hits the ceiling to set off the beautiful lighting on it, and the other lamp is used to enhance the contour of the model's face, but remember not to hit the light source on the mirror, otherwise there will be ugly spots or light source diffusion.

A swimming pool/bath

If it is a high-end motel, the villa provides an outdoor swimming area (swimming pool) for use. Because of the surrounding landscape and natural light, it is an ideal place to take pictures, but unfortunately, the weather on the day of our outdoor shooting was not good and the temperature was cold, which also made many of our original pictures unable to be presented smoothly. On balance, we decided to adopt a relaxed tone, and let the model sit by the pool and make a leisurely expression to create a picture. As for the lighting configuration, one is to fill the light on the model's face, and the other is to hide behind the model to achieve the effect of similar spotlight and make the image work more focused. If there is no big swimming pool in the room, an indoor warm bath is actually a very good shooting scene. Whether sitting next to the bath or taking a bubble bath in the pool, you can take a different image feeling. The only thing worth noting is that most bathing places are dark, so you have to work harder on the background light to get an ideal exposure image.

Indoor landscape

To tell the truth, unless it is a theme motel room, most of the indoor landscaping is simple and simple, so if you want to shoot Fu's works through these landscaping, you can only change it by the photographer's keen observation. Take the following picture as an example. This room type has only one fixed vertical table. At this time, we let Model sit at the vertical table for an interview. As a result, we found that the works were well-behaved, and we felt that there was a lack of situational fu. So we took the opportunity to take a small bench as a footstool and replace it with a panoramic view, with potted plants on the vertical table as the background. By comparing the illustrations, do we find that the image effect is quite different? As for the way of arranging lamps, as shown in the figure, I won't go into details here.

Adjustment of color temperature

Although the light quality can be controlled in a stable state through the supplementary light of outdoor spotlights, some players may feel that a little white tone is a bit out of tune with Motel's warmth. If you feel the same way, you can improve it by post-processing RAW files or correcting color temperature films.
