How to maintain wooden sticks in Wushu?

Commonly used martial arts sticks are gray sticks or rattan sticks, and there are other kinds of sticks, but the principles and precautions of maintenance are similar, mainly needing attention:

Clean it up Where there are scars, you can obviously flatten them with a blade, but if you don't master them well, you will cut them too hard and easily sag; Or take broken glass and scrape it repeatedly, and then polish it with sandpaper, but it takes some effort.

Sweat or salt water gradually seeps in. Often used or wiped or soaked for a short time is to make the stick contain a certain amount of salt, because salt absorbs water, which is beneficial to keep the stick moist. But don't take it for granted to soak the stick in salt water for a long time. Excessive operation will destroy the wood-fiber relationship inside the stick.

Scientific resettlement. Sticks that have not been used for a long time should be hung up, so that the stick body is naturally vertical, or flat on the dry ground. Tilting or resting for a long time is easy to cause deformation and bending, which is difficult to correct.

Moisture and moth prevention are also very important. If it is left in a damp and closed place for a long time, the surface of the stick will be covered with blue-black mold, which needs to be checked and wiped regularly. If there is a small hole in the stick, sometimes wood will come out and become lighter and lighter. There must be bugs in this stick, so we should deal with them immediately and control them in time. If we find that there are too many wormholes, we have to throw them away, so as not to suffer from other guns and sticks together, especially on important occasions, so as not to break them.
