When it comes to landscape villas, we can't help mentioning the 20th century American architect Frank Lloyd Wright (F.L. Wright1867-1959) and his "mobile villa" designed and built for German-American businessman E.J. Kaufman.

1934, American businessman Kaufman met Wright and became close friends because of their similar interests. In February 65438+, Kaufman invited Wright to Xiongpao Creek in the southeast suburb of Pittsburgh to discuss the construction of a weekend villa. The base of the villa was chosen in the upper reaches of the stream, far from the expressway, surrounded by forests, and the atmosphere was very quiet. Later, Wright wrote back to Kaufman that the impression of the field trip was unforgettable, and a vague impression of the villa matching the musical sense of the stream appeared in his mind. 1March, 935, the map was sent to the design room, and Wright didn't take it until the end of August. At Kaufman's repeated urging, Wright drew the first design sketch one day in September, which actually took only about 15 minutes. Usually, the master likes his assistants and students to watch him draw, but this time he wants to do it alone. The next morning, when the students began to eat breakfast, they saw the sketch on the master's desk.

Wright described the villa as "an extension of the cliff beside the mountain stream". The living space is suspended above the stream through several platforms. Wright was so dissatisfied with the report that he even asked Kaufman to return his paintings because Kaufman didn't deserve the villa. As a result, Kaufman apologized and began to build "flowing water" according to Wright's opinion. During the project, the master made four field visits and had many disputes with the engineer. Therefore, the coordination between architecture and structure is always more appropriate.

At the donation ceremony, Little Kaufman expressed his feelings in the following words: "Flowing water villa" is a work made by human beings for themselves, not by one person for another. It is public wealth, not privately owned wealth. By the end of 1988, the total number of visitors to "Flowing Water Villa" had exceeded 1 10,000.
