Shooting skills of slow shutter in the sun
Best recommendation for shooting autumn water.
Canon 600d:18 million effective pixels; This time, various practical operation modes have been added; Rotating the LCD screen is convenient for various angles. Canon ef-s18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is: only 455g is suitable for travel; IS can obtain the effect of hand shake compensation equivalent to about 4 shutter speeds at full focal length.
Slow down the shutter in the strong sunlight.
When shooting night scenes, due to the limitation of light, we often shoot at a slower shutter speed to get enough light; At the same time, it also allows us to shoot some invisible effects, such as the light track of the car.
In fact, shooting in the sun during the day is nothing new, and this kind of running water shooting is also one of the essential themes of entry-level tourism photography; However, due to the abundant daylight during the day, even if the minimum aperture (such as F22 or F32) and the lowest sensitivity (such as ISO 100) are used, the lowest shutter value that can be used is about 1/2 seconds, that is, 1 second, and it is difficult to capture the mist illusion of waterfalls and water flows at this shutter speed. How do we use the ultra-slow shutter when the sun is shining? It's actually quite simple. You need a dimming filter or sunglasses!
1, determine the shutter speed of the running water.
When shooting a waterfall, first make sure that the shutter speed of the fog is about right. First of all, I tried to shoot the exposure combination of F 1 1/6 seconds, which is commonly used in filamentous water. The solidified water is filiform, and the exposure is normal, but the fog is not obvious, and the waterfall does not achieve uniform effect. So, I boldly tried the 3-second shutter and set the aperture at F22. Although the water and sky are overexposed, I can see the effect of a little fog in the shadow. Finally, I decided to shoot at a shutter speed of 4 seconds.
2. Use ND8 reducing mirror.
In order to achieve the shutter speed of 4 seconds, I decided to use ND8 subtractor. Fix the filter in front of the lens with the filter holder. According to the previous shooting data, set F22, 4 seconds and ISO 100. Due to the addition of ND8 filter, the EV value can be reduced by 3 levels, and the exposure of the original shutter speed 1/2 seconds can be extended to 4 seconds. If you need a slower shutter, you can add ND2 or ND4 filters. If you don't need dimming, you can use sunglasses as a dimmer.
3. Create a dream scene with miniature landscape effect.
In order to focus more on the waterfall position, make the picture more dramatic and make the whole scene more dreamy, I used the axis-shifting effect of Canon 600D. Because the shift axis effect will enhance the color and contrast of the picture, it is very likely that the dark part will become darker on the basis of the original exposure after we use the subtractor. In order to avoid losing the layering of water and stones, I added 0.3EV when shooting.
What else can you shoot?
1. Shooting cloud
When we shoot at the seaside during the day, if we want to shoot the changes of clouds in the sky, we can simply use nd filter to solve the overexposure problem of the sky and the sea. At the same time, it can also freeze the flow of clouds in the sky and paint more beautiful colors.
Step 2 shoot people or traffic
ND filter can also play the same role when shooting people or traffic with slow doors in the sun, allowing you to use a slower shutter speed to create dynamic effects.
Focus on explaining the problems related to equipment.
1. tripod: A stable tripod must be used for slow shutter shooting. Can you hang the camera belt on the hook of the tripod? Intensify? For a more stable shooting environment.
2. Cable release/remote control: Using cable release or remote control can avoid camera vibration caused by pressing the shutter; In addition, if the exposure time exceeds 30 seconds, it may be necessary to use wired release or remote control to control B-door shooting.
3. Choose a larger filter size: If you have several lenses with different diameters, you might as well buy a larger filter and apply it to the lens with smaller diameter through the adapter ring. After all, the adapter ring is cheaper than the filter.
4. Adjustable light filter: There are many adjustable light filters on the market. Rotating filters can achieve different dimming levels, but the price is more expensive.
