Friends who love taking pictures must have a certain understanding of the photography principles of cameras, but if you can make a film camera by yourself, you will definitely have greater fun. Japan's best-selling "Science for Adults" magazine combines rigorous scientific knowledge with interesting toys in the appendix to use your brain and hands to understand science for adults. What’s more, what I’m unboxing this time is the Chinese version officially authorized by Tianxia! Don’t worry if you don’t understand Japanese or can’t assemble it. Now that the Chinese version is available, it’s a real blessing to readers in Taiwan. Come and unbox the camera, assemble it, and try it out!

"Science for Adults: 35mm Binocular Camera" Unboxing

In fact, I read this book when I visited a photography exhibition before There is a Japanese version of Miaomi, but I couldn’t understand Japanese at all, so I gave up in the end. Unexpectedly, I waited until the Chinese version was released, which really gave us the opportunity to make our own 35mm binocular camera for fun. Learn about taking pictures through a simple camera

Officially authorized Chinese version! There are many more volumes to be released in the future! Friends who love science for adults, don’t miss it. I’m really looking forward to the new pinhole planetarium that will be published in December. I want to try it as a background when shooting products XD

Back of the book , the 35mm binocular camera in the appendix is ??included! Therefore, the magazine and appendices cannot be purchased separately!

A magazine, paired with a small model, not only echoes the science of the magazine, but can also peek into the science of adults through this small model

Add the 35mm eyes in the appendix The camera was taken out and all the parts were fixed on Styrofoam

The magazine cover was stuck to the box, so I peeled it off later so that it would be easier to read the magazine and assemble the camera. More convenient

This issue of the magazine also introduces micro photography when shooting horizontally through a 35mm binocular camera, as well as sharing with tilt-shift photography

Next, we talk about the evolution of binocular cameras. , not only tells the history of cameras, but also explains the principles of binocular cameras, and also reports on the boom of binocular cameras in Japan after the war

What I am most interested in is this article, the evolution of silver salt photosensitive plates , the earliest gravure photography developed images through the light-hardening properties of asphalt. From the 1837 daguerreotype photography to the birth of the roll film in 1889, the content is quite rich

35mm binocular camera assembly

Then it’s time to assemble! Although it is a Chinese version, it still took me more than an hour to install it myself. The included screwdriver is very convenient, but there are only a lot of small parts, so it is best not to disassemble it all at once! I dismantle them only after use, and put the rest back into their original positions after disassembly, so that they won’t get mixed up and find themselves in trouble when looking for parts.

The assembly instructions are clear and step-by-step. There is also a comparison table for small parts. There will be explanations during each step of assembly. It is recommended to read it once. Pay attention to some small eyebrow corners!

On the left version, the film advance knob and counter are on the left side

When installing the camera obscura and the front version, the shutter lever is assembled through a spring. Be careful not to use the spring. Break it!

Back cover

Almost done! !

The upper eye is used for viewing, so a reflector is installed, while the lower eye is used to expose the film.

The viewing window has also been installed for daily viewing. That’s it with the view window closed

You’re done, let’s load the film and start taking pictures!

Binocular cameras have charming features and are quite fun. You can load and roll the film yourself, and then look at the picture projected through the viewing window, trying desperately to get the focus right

The dual camera is really charming. There is a counter in the lower left corner! Each 180 degree rotation represents a picture, remember to rotate it after pressing the shutter!

Sharing of actual photos taken with the 35mm binocular camera

I have also experienced using film cameras before. I originally thought that it should be no problem. On the first day I took it out to take pictures, I pressed After 10-20 shutter speeds, I realized that I had missed something... I doubt it! ! Damn, I didn’t turn the film knob at all! Of course, when this negative came out, there was no picture at all.

Before I received the 35mm binocular camera, I also read some articles on the Internet, but none of them mentioned the shutter. I just wanted to know how to control the shutter.

It turns out that the shutter lever of this 35mm binocular camera is controlled by a spring. The opening and closing speed matches the aperture and the 400ISO film, so there is no need to control the shutter speed. All you need to do is think about the composition and focus. Just pull down the shutter lever! Just remember to turn the button!

Then after I finished shooting the film, I had to rewind it, but I opened the back cover before I could turn it to the end... GG, I originally thought that half of the film would be destroyed when it was developed! Unexpectedly, I only lost 5 good and bad cards XD. Below are photos taken through a 35mm binocular camera.

With infinity focus, the cloud shots are quite clear, but the viewing window only has one refraction, so it will be reversed left and right, making it a little difficult for me to compose the picture.

At this time I The car was parked on the side of the road and the photo was taken!

Personally, I prefer banners, and I took several pictures that were tilted! This shot is a success when held handheld.

Of course, you can keep repeating the exposure without turning the film button! This photo must have been exposed three times, on the bicycle lane in Bali

I personally like this photo very much, it was taken here in Wugu

Taking pictures of the MRT

Guandu Bridge, in this photo I focused on the branches above!

I will take the remaining few photos in Beike and take them to be developed after taking them

Nice light and shadow!

It’s a fun experience. Assembling a 35mm binocular camera by yourself, you can also learn about the history of cameras. The Chinese version of "Science for Adults" is awesome!
