What happened to the kidnapping of Hong Kong tourists in the Philippines?

The incident took place on August 23rd, 20 10, around 9:30 am Manila time, Philippines. Rolando mendoza, the dismissed former senior inspector of the Philippines, forcibly boarded a tourist bus belonging to the Hong Kong-Hong Kong Thailand tour group, holding 23 hostages, including tourists, drivers, tour guides, tour leaders and photographers, and asked the Philippine government to reinstate him. The kidnappers released nine hostages successively, and another 1 Filipino driver hostage successfully escaped. After the incident lasted for nearly 10 hour, a gun battle broke out between the bandits and the special weapons and tactical units of the Manila Police District of the Philippine National Police.
