Lighting skills of shooting glass products

In still life photography, shooting glass products is a technical job. You should show their transparent texture and bright colors, make a clear outline, and at the same time control the reflection of the surface. 1. Solid color and light background

Light background is characterized by strong reflective ability.

You can hit the front with direct light (be careful not to direct the glass), and the direct light will reflect on the white background and shine on the glass, which will appear very transparent;

If it is possible to use a transparent plexiglass static table, you can also fill the light behind the object, which will make the outline below the cup more obvious.

Of course, if you have the conditions to use the backlight, or use the backlight to shoot, the lighting step in front can be omitted, but the lighting step in the back can not be less.

Because, without the back fill light, the outline below the cup is not obvious enough:

2. Solid color and deep background

The dark background is characterized by almost no reflection.

So you need to use a flash soft box to take photos from both sides, or from the top, and then put reflectors on both sides to outline the white outline of the top and both sides.

However, you may need to adjust the angle and direction of the light source several times to control the number of white edges to get the best shooting effect.

3. A gradient background with light in the middle and dark around it

The gradient background with light in the middle and dark around is similar to the pure light background in the light distribution method, which is the front main light source and the auxiliary light source in the down and back direction.

The difference is that the solid light background needs the front scattering light source, the gradient background needs the spotlight light source, and the background is far away from the main body to form the central bright area.

By adjusting the distance from the front main light to the background, the brightness and "diffusion" range of the central highlight area can be changed, and the size of the gradient area can be controlled to achieve the desired shooting effect.

Still pay attention to that problem, any light source coming from the front can't hit the glass directly, otherwise there will be strong reflection.

"Wait, old wet, how was this photo taken? The central bright area in the picture is located behind the cup, indicating that the lamp shines directly on the cup, but why is it not reflected? "

There is no doubt that the front light will definitely reflect when it hits the glass. Since there is no reflection in this picture, there is only one truth: light comes from behind.

4. Staggered color background

An important technique in glassware photography is adding liquid. Glassware itself is colorless and transparent, and adding liquids of various colors can make the picture more colorful;

In addition, different liquid textures, such as clear water, turbid beer and fruit juice with a lot of suspended particles, can create a completely different atmosphere. You can try more.

The next thing I want to talk about is the cross-color background lighting method, which needs the assistance of liquid.

The specific method is to select a black non-reflective bottom plate, put two background papers with different colors away from the object, splice them together, center the spliced gap and illuminate them with lights; At the same time, the transmitted light hits the glass from the back and shoots from the front.

The part of the cup filled with liquid plays the role of blocking the line of sight and covering the seam between the two background plates; In addition, the liquid is "dyed" in different colors by the background board, and the visual effect is quite strange.
