Jiangyin Junshan Temple opening hours in 2020
The opening hours of Jiangyin Junshan Temple in 2020 are 8:30-17:30 every day
The predecessor of Junshan Temple is Jiangyin Qianming Guangfu Zen Temple. According to historical records, the temple was originally the second courtyard. One was built during the reign of Emperor Qianzhen of the Tang Dynasty (927-928) and was named Chongsheng. During the Taiping and Xingguo reign of the Song Dynasty (976-983), he was granted the title Qian Ming. The second one was built during the Zhihe period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1054-1055) and was named Huazang and Qianmingziyuan. In Zhiping (1064-1067), he was named Shou Sheng. In Shaoxing of the Southern Song Dynasty (1131-1162), it was changed to Guangfu. In the ninth year of Qiandao (1173), it was merged into one temple. The temple's halls and pavilions are stern and spacious, and it is the highest among all the temples in the city. The Sengling Division (today's Buddhist group) was located in it. For thousands of years, it experienced rise and fall, and was finally destroyed by the Taiping War. A generation of leaders from the mountains has declined. The original site of Guangfu Zen Temple in Qianming Dynasty is located in the current Minyun Lane, Zhongshan Park and Chengjiang Blessed Areas in the city, which has now become a prosperous urban area. However, there are still Buddhist relics such as thousand-year-old membranes, four-eye ancient wells, and Heart Sutra inscriptions on the site, and they are properly protected. In the early 1990s, in order to meet the needs of believers to carry out religious activities, the Jiangyin Municipal People's Government specially allocated 50 acres of Junshan treasure land and rebuilt the Qianming Guangfu Temple (Junshan Temple for short) at a new location
Junshan is located in Jiangyin It is at the northwest end of the urban area, with the Yangtze River on its back, an altitude of 72.5 meters, and an area of ??404,000 square meters. The old name is Kanjiangshan, and later it was named after Chun Shenjun: The old annals said: "This mountain is swollen and flat, arching and pillowing the river, and surrounded by peaks in the city. It overlooks Weiyang in the north, Gusu in the south, Lewang Haiyu, and spans in the west. "The Jingjiang River is a grand sight in one place and a majestic place in the mountains." Building a temple on this mountain takes advantage of the beauty of the mountain scenery, the beauty of the shape, the aura of auspiciousness, and the spirit of fairyland. It has a unique geographical advantage.
The purpose of the Junshan Temple reconstruction project is to enhance the splendor of the ancient temple and innovate the splendor of the temple, and to build it into a "famous temple in southern Jiangsu, a famous port city, and a famous tourist attraction". The planning and design is based on the ridge of the southern slope of Junshan (towards the southwest). On the central axis, a five-level platform is opened, and the mountain gate, Tianwang Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, Mahavira Hall, Guanyin Hall, and Sutra Collection Tower are arranged from bottom to top according to Buddhist regulations. A Bodhi Pagoda is built on the top of the mountain, and the Patriarch Hall, Luohan Hall, Sutra Hall, and Sutra Hall are attached to the left and right. The Zen Hall, advanced in levels, is spectacular. Due to its large scale, it was decided to plan once and implement it in phases.
In 1993, arduous terrain reconstruction began, and the construction of the first phase of the project was promoted with the Main Hall as a symbol. The foundation stone of the Main Hall was laid on February 6, 1996, and the beams were raised in October 1996. It was completed in 1997. During this period, the platform in front of the main hall and the main halls such as the Tianwang Hall, the Mountain Gate, and the Patriarch's Hall were successively built. So far, Junshan Temple has begun to take shape, its majestic appearance has begun to appear, and it has the ability to hold large-scale religious activities and receive domestic and overseas tourist groups.
Nowadays, you approach Junshan Temple from Junshan Road, a spacious urban arterial road, and walk up the steps to enter the mountain gate. All the palaces along the central axis are in the Ming and Qing Dynasty styles, with thick and steady, cornices and even roofs. It is covered with yellow glazed tiles, making it even more resplendent and shining. The plaques of "Junshan Temple" and "Tianwang Hall" on the mountain gate are inscribed by the great monk Song Chun himself, with dignified and thick fonts. The Main Hall is 22 meters high and has a construction area of ??925 square meters. The "Main Xiong Hall" plaque under the flying rafters and heavy eaves is a calligraphy work by the famous calligrapher Mr. Liu Bingsen. The main hall is dedicated to three great Buddhas: Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha and Medicine Buddha. In the middle, Sakyamuni Buddha's Dharma body is 6.8 meters high, with a solemn and kind appearance. On the east and west sides are painted statues of the twenty-four heavens. In the middle of the back of the hall is a white marble statue of Guanyin on the Island. There are two large reliefs inlaid on the east and west walls of the Main Hall. On the east side is the scene of Sakyamuni Buddha preaching, and on the west side is the scene of Buddha statues from ten directions. The scene is very spectacular.
