1. Do you want to film the whole scene?

Some photographers will use a wide-angle lens as a story lens, because the lens coverage can capture enough details to show your theme background, so as to better help your theme tell stories. However, if you need a shallow depth of field, most wide-angle lenses may not meet your requirements. We know that the depth of field is closely related to the focal length. The same aperture, the same subject size, the longer the focal length, the shallower the depth of field. Then at this time, it is necessary to shoot in a far place with a medium telephoto lens.

3. How close can you get to your topic?

You can only shoot the theme, but it is difficult to shoot the whole scene.

You must use a telephoto lens for sports photography, because it is difficult for you to get close to the athletes who are moving, and of course it is the same for concerts and the like.
4. How much can you carry?
Although I know that every shot is charming, and I know that you want to cover all the focal segments as much as possible when you go out to shoot, for most girls, too many shots are absolutely beyond your body's capacity. This is even more important if you are a street photographer. You need to wander the streets for hours or more a day. The more you bring, the heavier and more difficult your bag will be.
According to your day's shooting content, choose the appropriate focal length, bring a hang-up head and at most one spare one, and then go out. Don't get lost in your closet, usefulness is the most important thing.
5. Is there no tripod to shoot in low light?
Not everyone has an iron fist, and the concept of safety shutter is still very important, because under the safety shutter, most people will inevitably have hand shaking, which will make the hard-earned photos paste. Fortunately, the ISO usable range of modern digital cameras has been greatly improved, and some cameras can even cope with tens of thousands of ISO easily, which is unimaginable in the film age.

7. Do you really need expensive professional lenses?

Unless you are a professional photographer who specializes in shooting such subjects, there is absolutely no need to buy a lens that will only be used several times. Borrow one or rent one to shoot, which is much better than buying it without using it.
