What should I pay attention to in portrait shooting?

Lead: Many novices are at a loss when shooting, they don't know anything, and there are no guidelines, so shooting is all about feeling, but then there are many mistakes. Let's take a look at the matters needing attention in portrait shooting!

Models are your content.

Model-The person you photograph is the content of your picture. Do you remember how to define photographic notes?

"The most important thing in photography is to contact and discover scenes and moments that touch your heart."

In the vernacular, your "scenery" should be touching. For portraits, people are scenery, so if you hire a model, the model must look good-the definition of good-looking can be understood as satisfying the theme of your shooting and expressive. Many times, the model we are looking for is good, and more than half of it is successful.

A good model not only looks good, but also professionally achieves the feeling you want, and shooting will become very easy.

Feeling depressed? I'm telling you, this is part of photography.

If the models are your family or friends, then maybe you can't expect too much from their expressiveness or appearance. More importantly, let them be in a natural state to capture. Seize the opportunity.

Portrait photography, this is the most important.

2. The shooting angle is very important

If you want to have a good look at a person's face, generally speaking, you should shoot it lower, which is 10. Why? According to the perspective principle (perspective, a photography problem misunderstood by many people), it is like this.

If you want to show your leg length, you can use the backhand, which is also the principle of perspective.

In addition, when shooting some portraits, we should also consider what angle to use, which is more in line with the scene at that time.

3. The background should be clean

Simple portrait photography-not environmental portraits, nor humanities. There is only one thing to show in our photos, and that is the model itself. Remember, talent is the only thing to show, and the cleaner the background, the better. You can choose a background with relatively beautiful colors and large solid colors. You can also achieve this goal through background blur (four formulas teach you how to shoot the basic skills of background blur photography).

Strip the characters from the background and simplify the background as much as possible.

In addition, remember that characters should not have bad connections with the background. Branches on the head, telephone poles on the shoulders, and neck cutting of wires should be avoided.

We can get these by changing the shooting angle. Maybe as a photographer, if you go left or right, the background will be good, and people can avoid overlapping with obvious things in the background.

For example, this photo was taken on the trestle. The subject didn't notice me at all when he came over, and I waited a long time to take this photo with a telephoto lens on the opposite side. Let her be in the middle of the picture, and let her block a fat American from a distance.

This photo was taken when she stopped the fat man from starting. We saw the girl farther away from me, with a fat American in a white shirt in the background. Obviously.

4. Avoid outdoor portraits at noon on sunny days.

When we shoot outdoors, we often put models in natural light (the classification of light-you must know when you learn to shoot with light). In fact, natural light is not a good light for taking portraits, because the light is too hard at other times except early morning and one night. What is hard work? Will cast a heavy and obvious shadow on your face.

Therefore, we can choose cloudy to cloudy weather for outdoor shooting. Or one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset.

This photo was taken on a cloudy day.

5. The focus is generally on the eyes.

When shooting, the focus is always the point of our struggle. In fact, when the person in the photo is very young, it is difficult for us to focus on the eyes accurately, so at least focus on the face.

If a character's eyes are as close to you, it's actually the same to focus on any one. If both eyes look at it from your point of view, there are front and back. Then focus on getting close to your eyes.

At the same time, we should pay attention to the background blur effect, but we should still control the aperture so as not to make one eye clear and the other blurred.

Of course, if you have special needs, you can not pay attention to your eyes. At this time, you must be clear about the key points. Then ignore this. This is only for people who don't know where the point is.

6. Personality composition is very important

Composition is very important for portrait shooting.

When the figure is very big, we can use the center method to compose the picture and put people in the middle of the picture, but remember, don't put your head in the middle, tilt it a little, or it will look short.

Trigonometry (the most commonly used composition method in photography) is also a very common portrait composition method. If a person is standing or sitting, you can put the characters on the left or right bisector. Lying down can be placed on the upper line or the lower line. One thing to note is that characters face left and should be placed on the right; The characters face the right, so put the characters on the left. It's okay to face forward.

When facing forward, you can also put one eye of the character on the vertical center line of the picture.

7. Word cutting is taboo.

Simply put, don't chop off your hands and feet, and don't chop off your joints. If it is intuitive, just look at the picture below.

Speaking of portrait shooting, you can actually write a book. But the articles in our photographic notes are always simple and direct. For beginners, you can say that you don't have time to study systematically, but these seven points must be remembered.

8. If you want to be more brilliant, shoot the characteristics of the characters.

According to the above "routine", will there be a portrait photo of a thousand people? Many people have this kind of worry, and many people will say: Rules are meant to be broken.

If the person who said this is a master, then this sentence is a master. If the person who said this is a novice, then this sentence is ignorance.

To break the rules, you must first know the rules.

In addition, even if we shoot according to the above rules, we can still shoot different portraits-because the difference is your content, not your rules.

So if you want to make your portrait more brilliant, we really need to consider how to shoot a different effect.

The picture above shows a famous singer in Louisiana, who has been nominated for Grammy for four times. He gave me the feeling that he was cool. The moment I took this photo and the angle I took it already showed his cool expression. I used 0EV to expose under the light of this scene. The use of the slow door makes his hands feel very dynamic, but the overall character is very distinct. Expressed instantaneous motion. Composition is a big centering method.

None of the above seven routines deviated.

The picture below obviously shows another person being photographed in the same scene. Playing the guitar is also the case. This little brother is a staff member of the Tourism Bureau. A naughty look, usually talking and laughing with us, very happy every day.

So look at the moment I grabbed him, and then look at the angle I shot him. I focused on his fingers to highlight his jokes. Or 0EV exposure, or in the middle.

But obviously, it is different from the above picture. Can you say the same routine?

So after you know all the routines of portrait shooting, all you have to do is to design a portrait suitable for each character.
