How about Canon 50d? How to use Canon 50d?

Canon 50D has been released for some time, that was in 2008. However, Canon 50d is still favored by photographers today because of its excellent performance, humanized design and high-end quality. Canon 50d has unique advantages in sensitivity, pixels and so on, which is also the reason why customers pursue it. Next, we will briefly introduce the Canon 50d manual.

Skills of using Canon 50d instruction manual

Main dial selection

The main function of Canon 50d is to select the main dial, so be sure to specify the main dial. After we press a button, its function will remain for 6 seconds. In these six seconds, we can turn the dial and set the settings we need. It should be noted that the camera will automatically jump to the shooting state after 6 seconds. Or after we press the button, if we press the shutter for 6 seconds, we will also jump to the shooting state.

Another situation is simply turning the dial. After opening the display screen, turn the dial to select the menu at the top of the screen and set the shutter speed, aperture size, etc.

Multifunctional control key

There is also a button next to the dial with eight arrows pointing to it. This button is a multi-function key, which can select autofocus, correct white balance, operate numerical control screen and so on. For example, by operating the numerical control screen and displaying shooting settings on the LCD, you can quickly select and set functions. Press the center button vertically directly, and the screen will display 10 second continuously, and there will be no operation jump within 10 second. Press the center button and the options will appear. Press the corresponding eight direction keys to select and press the center button to confirm.

Fully automatic shooting

Sometimes we suddenly want to take a selfie, or it is not convenient to shoot normally. At this time, you can choose automatic shooting. First, we jump the camera mode to the rectangular window mode, and then focus on the object to be photographed. At this time, all the focus points will be autofocused, and the nearest subject will be autofocused.

It should be noted that when the Canon 50d is in autofocus, we can also make adjustments. After rough focusing, manually focus by half pressing the shutter, and the photo quality is higher. There may be a flashing red dot during autofocus. We can turn on the flash or set it to turn on automatically.

take a picture

Press the shutter completely to take a picture. After taking a photo, the photo will be displayed on the LCD. The photo will only be displayed automatically for two seconds. When we are taking pictures, if the light is dim, the built-in flash of Canon 50d will pop up automatically, and you can press it yourself if it is not necessary.

How does Canon 50D take portraits?

Step 1: Fix the camera on the tripod to better use the bright lens.

When shooting portraits by the window, it is suitable to use a fixed-focus lens with bright maximum aperture. Although the window light injected through the curtain looks strong, the actual amount of light is relatively small. And the indoor background is often complicated. In order to blur the background and simplify the composition, a soft and bright fixed-focus lens should also be used. However, in order to use a bright fixed-focus lens to approach the aperture value of the maximum aperture, more accurate focusing is needed. For real-time display shooting, the camera needs to be firmly fixed on the tripod.

Step 2: Turn off the indoor lighting to prevent color cast.

When the light from the window is the main light source, be sure to turn off all indoor lighting to prevent color cast in the shadow. The part illuminated by outdoor lighting is brighter than indoor lighting, and it is not easy to appear color cast. Although the light through the curtain is very soft and easy to use, it also has the disadvantage of absolute light, and the shadow part is easily affected by indoor lighting, which must be paid attention to. It is difficult for the human eye to distinguish the deviation of the optimal tone, but digital cameras will faithfully reproduce the color difference, so we must be very careful.

Step 3: Let the characters stand facing the window and make full use of the light.

It is best to stand as close to the window as possible. In addition, you should make the characters' faces face outward to ensure the light irradiation, which is the trick to shoot this scene. Doing so can make soft light shine on people's faces smoothly and ensure that people's skin can be imaged delicately. And standing in this position can let the light enter the eyes of the characters and get more vivid expressions, which can be described as killing two birds with one stone. The key point is to regard the whole window as a big light source, so that people's position and face orientation can be determined naturally. You can choose the intensity of light shining on a person's face according to your personal preference. It is best to let the light pass through a white curtain made of translucent thin cloth such as lace, which can illuminate a person's skin ideally. However, it should be noted that light passing through colored curtains will cause color cast and is not recommended.

Step 4: Adjust the ISO sensitivity according to the light intensity.

After basically determining the standing position of the person, check the exposure of the camera. In order to improve shutter speed and avoid subject jitter, ISO sensitivity should be improved. Set the aperture value of the lens to F 1.6 here. Considering the subtle movements of characters and eye movements caused by blinking, ISO200 is chosen. The shutter speed used is 1/320 seconds. The optimal shutter speed depends on the focal length of the lens used. Because portrait photography is different from still life photography, people's actions need to be considered, so even if the camera is fixed, regardless of the focal length, the shutter speed should be at least1125 seconds to ensure peace of mind.

Step 5: Use manual focusing to focus people's eyes.

Move the zoom box in the real-time display shooting picture that has started. Make the zoom-in frame consistent with the center of human eyes, press the auto-focus point selection/zoom-in button, and use the zoom-in display of 10 times to accurately focus the depth of human pupils. If there is no big movement of the character, you can also keep the enlarged display and release the shutter directly. Every shot does not return to the normal display. Because the depth of field is shallow when the aperture is near the maximum aperture, people can be required to keep still, keep the rhythm and cooperate with each other in shooting.

These are probably the main functions of the Canon 50d manual. But the art of shooting is far more than that. We can have the courage to try and believe that everyone will become a photographer.
