Introduction to Afghan girl
"Afghan Girl" (also known as "Green-Eyed Girl") was taken by photographer Steve McCurry in 1984 near Peshawar, Pakistan refugee camp; the girl in the photo, Sharbat Gula, had no idea that her portrait had aroused widespread repercussions until she was rediscovered by National Geographic magazine in 2002.
In December 1984, Steve McCurry took the famous photo "Afghan Girl" in a refugee camp in Pakistan.
The June 1985 issue of "National Geographic" used this photo as the cover, and the whole world knew about the "Afghan girl" named Sharbat Gula. Seventeen years later, Steve McCurry suddenly had a wish: to go to Afghanistan to find the girl who was photographed 17 years ago.
