Life experiment

You can do the elephant toothpaste experiment.

Experimental materials: white vinegar, detergent, baking soda, food pigment (mainly used for color development, not necessary)

Experimental method: add water to baking soda to make a solution, add 2 drops of detergent, and then pour in white vinegar.

Extended data

Experimental principle: Detergent is equivalent to a catalyst, which intensifies the reaction between white vinegar and sodium bicarbonate and greatly accelerates the generation of carbon dioxide, thus forming the experimental phenomenon of elephant toothpaste.

Experimental phenomenon: liquid rises, changes color, smells (detergent flavor), and water expands into foam, covering the utensils. Because it produces a phenomenon like a huge toothpaste, much like the toothpaste used by elephants, it is called "elephant toothpaste" or "elephant toothpaste" by experimenters. This experiment and the famous "Pharaoh's snake" were once included in the general chemistry experiment 158.
