People's Daily Online, Wuhan, June 27th. On the 27th, heavy to heavy rain fell in Yichang City, Hubei Province. As of 11 a.m., more than 60 millimeters of precipitation had occurred in Xiling District and eastern Changyang. Many low-lying areas in Yichang were severely waterlogged, and heavy rains caused blockages in some urban traffic arteries. Some road sections were affected by the slope, causing local water flow impact, and some vehicles were flooded. It is understood that the Hubei Provincial Meteorological Department has issued more than 40 warnings in succession. This round of heavy rainfall will affect the western and northern parts of Hubei Province, with disastrous weather factors. Yichang Meteorological Observatory Yichang Meteorological Observatory issued three warning signals in succession: a yellow warning for heavy rain at 8:19; an orange warning for heavy rain at 9:11; and a red warning for heavy rain at 9:55. According to the Yichang Meteorological Bureau, the rainfall at the Yangjiaxi Station in Sandouping, Yiling District this time was more than 100 millimeters. At present, more than 90 millimeters of precipitation have occurred in Wujiagang District, and the traffic police and municipal departments have stepped up traffic diversion and drainage dredging. At the intersection of Dongshan Avenue and Dongyan Road in Yichang City, more than 50 centimeters of water accumulated. Vehicles were trapped in the water, and pedestrians and vehicles struggled to pass through the water. There was serious water accumulation at the intersection of Dongcheng Avenue and Xiaoya Road. Some vehicles waded into the water so deep that the doors could not be opened, and the people inside the vehicles were trapped. The situation was very critical. Yiling traffic police waded into the water, climbed into the car and broke the window to rescue the trapped people.
From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on June 27, water accumulation and landslides occurred in many sections of the Three Gorges Over Dam Expressway. The Hubei High Police Three Gorges Brigade quickly deployed police forces to respond to the flood situation, and the police jointly operated in an emergency Management units, maintenance, road administration and other departments went on the road to check for hidden dangers, promptly cleared away gravel and soil, restored traffic, and used cones to isolate and mark dangerous road sections. Arrange police officers on duty at key road sections and sections prone to accidents, and shake sticks to signal passing vehicles to slow down. The Three Gorges Jiufeng Valley and Qingjiang Gallery scenic spots issued notices that due to sudden heavy rains, the scenic spots will be temporarily closed.
