The Yangtze River flows through Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai 1 1 province.

The Yangtze River originates from the "roof of the world"-the southwest side of Gladden Peak in Tanggula Mountains of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and flows into the East China Sea to the east of Chongming Island, with a total length of 6397km, which is more than 900 km longer than the Yellow River (5464km), second only to the Nile in Africa and the Amazon River in South America, ranking third in the world. In the ranking of the world's major river flows, the Yangtze River also ranks third in the world, second only to the Amazon River and the Congo River. However, the Nile River basin spans nine African countries, the Amazon River basin spans seven South American countries, and the Congo River basin spans seven African countries. The Yangtze River is unique to China.

Above Yichang, the main stream of the Yangtze River, is upstream, with a length of 4,504 kilometers and a drainage area of 6,543.8+0,000 square kilometers, of which the branch from Zhimen to Yibin is called Jinsha River, with a length of 3,464 kilometers.
