Guyi Garden, one of the five classical gardens in Shanghai.

Guyi Garden is located in nanxiang town, Jiading District, northwest suburb of Shanghai. Built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, it was originally named Yiyuan, which was taken from the word "Qingzhuyi" in the Book of Songs. In the 11th year of Qianlong (1746), it was renamed "Ancient Garden". It is one of the five classical gardens in Shanghai.

Brief introduction of ancient art garden

Guyi Garden was built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1522- 1566). It is a private house, formerly known as Yiyuan Garden, which is taken from the sentence "Green Bamboo Yiyuan Garden" in the Book of Songs. Qing Qianlong eleven years (1746 Garden), renamed "Ancient Garden". The architectural style of Guyi Garden is the same as that of Suzhou Garden. The pavilions between small bridges and flowing water are simple and elegant.

Fresh and elegant

Guyi Garden has two doors, the south gate is Nanxiang Wall (facing the wall), the north gate is Tang Ye, the south gate is the north gate, or the north gate is the south gate, so you don't need to go back. Among them, Ye Yi Hall is the main hall in the garden, with nanmu as the pillar and surrounded by roads. Standing in the hall, you can see the surrounding scenery. To the east is the inclined pond, and to the south is the most peculiar building in ancient gardens-the broken corner pavilion. One of the four corners of the pavilion is missing the northeast corner. It turned out that when Japan invaded the three northeastern provinces, patriots in Jiading built pavilions to show national humiliation. Go east, cross Yuanyang Lake and Songhe Garden to Qingqing Garden, where you can see the real "green bamboo" scenery. The ancient buildings with cornices and corners under the bamboo forest look fresh and elegant.

You can see the leisurely waterfowl on the surface of the ancient garden, the red carp in the water, and the cruise terminal on the south bank of Guishan Lake in the east of the garden. According to the flowers in different seasons, Guyi Garden has different flower exhibitions in four seasons. There are begonia in spring, lotus in summer, wintersweet and narcissus in winter. Whether it's a large lotus on the lake or a sketch of a pool on my only road, they all go around and pass through a sheltered depression, attracting countless photographers equipped with "long guns and short guns". On the Lantern Festival, there will be a lantern show in Guyi Garden.

Located in the south of the garden, Shanghai Guyiyuan Restaurant is the leader of Nanxiang steamed buns and is very popular. There are also many small cage shops in Nanxiang Old Street outside the ancient garden, which are delicious.
