Nantong is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province. Located on the north bank of the Yangtze River, near the estuary.

Nantong has always been an important textile industry center. Because of its deep-water port and its connection with inland canals, it was open to foreign investment in the recent economic reform in China.

Nantong is an agricultural area and a traditional salt-making place in history. Its main agricultural products include cotton, rice, wheat, fish, fruit and so on.

Nantong has a subtropical humid climate with four distinct seasons. According to the 20 10 census, its current population is 7,282,835.
