Automatic exposure error condition

Generally speaking, the smaller the contrast of scene brightness, the more accurate the exposure will be, otherwise the greater the deviation will be. Of course, the grade of the camera is also very important. There are high and low grades of cameras. Advanced cameras are more accurate in metering, while low cameras will increase the deviation. But this does not mean that the automatic exposure of advanced cameras must be very accurate.

In most cases, shooting according to the data provided by the camera's automatic metering can make most photos get basically accurate exposure. This is because the exposure meter reads 18% gray tone, and 18% gray is the average light value in our daily life scenes, such as our skin color. However, the correct exposure is not equal to the best exposure, especially when white or bright objects are dominant in the picture, there will be obvious deviation when shooting only according to the photometric data of the camera, that is to say, the white objects, bright objects and dark objects in the picture are all 18% gray scale, which is naturally not ideal. At this time, exposure compensation can play an extremely important role.

When do I need to use exposure compensation

For most people, the way to judge whether the exposure is correct is to play back through the LCD screen and check the photo effect directly after shooting. This method is intuitive, but not necessarily accurate.

More accurate. The method is to observe the histogram. When the camera plays back the photos, you can choose whether to display the histogram. If the black spots on the histogram are evenly distributed and there are no faults, then the exposure of this photo is more accurate. If it is crowded aside or there are obvious faults, then pay attention to the exposure of the photos. At this time, it is necessary to use exposure compensation to shoot again. Of course, this is not absolute. For example, if you take a silhouette, there will be a fault.

Adjustment of exposure compensation

Most general digital SLR cameras have adjustable exposure compensation of positive and negative three gears, which can meet the shooting and creative needs in most complex situations. As for some advanced flagship SLR cameras, exposure compensation even reaches plus or minus 5 files, which can meet the shooting needs in extremely complex lighting environment. Camera automatic metering always has limitations, and different metering methods have great influence on the final exposure. Even if the exposure is accurate, your creative intention is not necessarily? Is it accurate? For example, sometimes, you deliberately want to take a silhouette, but the automatic exposure of the camera gives you a very? Is that correct? Exposure rate. At this time, exposure compensation becomes your only choice.

If there is no exposure compensation, then obviously you can only control the exposure of the picture through M blocks, which is undoubtedly very troublesome. Exposure compensation is not only convenient for your shooting, but also can be adjusted according to your own creative intention.

This statement is not entirely correct. RAW format is a digital negative, which is more adjustable than JPEG. Of course, its exposure latitude is also higher than JPEG format. But it is also very limited. We don't recommend correcting the exposure problem through post-adjustment, because it is very difficult. Basically, the exposure deviation of the first and half files can be easily corrected by the post-adjustment of the RAW format. But the deviation is too big, and the RAW format is powerless.

Make the exposure more accurate. The RAW format is only used as the material for fine-tuning in the later stage, or as an emergency measure after your early shooting mistakes. If it is the error of color temperature, then you can shoot in RAW format, and you can safely hand it over to the later stage.
