What is pictorial?
Pictorial is a periodical or newspaper with pictures as the main publication and words as the auxiliary publication. Its outstanding feature is that it emphasizes the intuition of reading and the strong visual communication effect. The earliest pictorial in China was Dianshizhai Pictorial, and 1877 was founded in Shanghai. In the 1920s, Shanghai's Companion Pictorial and China's People's Pictorial were famous for a long time.
China Pictorial has a history of 100 years. With the progress of printing, it has gone through several stages: lithograph printing, screen printing, photocopying and offset printing. Before the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the history of China Pictorial can be divided into germination period (1877~ 1900), initial period (1900 ~19) and initial development period (19).
