Behind-the-scenes Production of Walking in the Clouds

Creation background

Walking in the clouds is a remake of the feature film A tightrope walker recorded in 2009. Director robert zemeckis will not only adapt it into a TV series, but also make it into a 3D version. With the help of visual effects, 3D, IMAX technology, combined with large-scale real-life construction. Presenting the scene of 1974, the film was originally supposed to be presented on the big screen in 2007, and it was also difficult in the production process.

Shooting preparation

Walking in the clouds was originally intended to be expressed in the form of motion capture. At that time, visual effects director Bailey was also in that company. He has begun to discuss how to cooperate with Ryan Tudhope of Atomic Fiction, and the filming was finally completed indoors in Maiers film studio in Montreal, thus avoiding the complicated problems such as light and climate change that would be encountered in outdoor shooting.

Scene setting

The crew set up a 40×60× 12-foot stage as a corner of the South Tower. Most of the time, the protagonist was filmed here. It is necessary to ensure that the scene of the actor walking a tightrope can be recorded by the camera and no important corner can be missed. Photography director dariusz wolski chose an area on the ceiling for lighting to simulate the real sky. In order to perfectly reproduce the cloudy sky, Dariz and his team provided broad and soft lighting. If the story takes place at sunrise, only half of the lights on the ceiling are needed, and of course a separate light is needed to represent the sun.
