During the Japanese occupation more than seventy years ago, in the mountains of South Australia, Taiwan, a seventeen-year-old Atayal girl named Sha Yun was helping a Japanese policeman who was recruited to serve as a soldier in Nanyang to carry his luggage. Unfortunately, he slipped and fell into the water and died. The Japanese rulers at that time took the opportunity to portray her as a model of enslaved education. They built bells and monuments for her, composed songs, and made movies. All of this gradually faded into history with the recovery of Taiwan, leaving only a damaged stone tablet beside Suhua Highway and the song called "The Bell of Shayun" (later renamed "Moonlight Serenade").
The Atayal are the second largest ethnic group of the Gaoshan people. They now live in the mountainous counties in northern Taiwan. They are divided into the Atayal and Seediq tribes ("Cape No. 7" director Wei Desheng's new work "Sediq Ba" "Lai" tells the story of the Sediq people fighting against the Japanese), and the story in the film takes place in Nan'ao Township, Yilan County, where director Chen Jieyao was born. Her grandma (grandma) was said to be the leader of the student group who saw off the Japanese teacher. Therefore, Director Chen had a special liking for this story. He first made it into a 90-minute TV series and then made it into a movie. Filmed on location in Yilan, and most of the actors are Atayal tribe residents.
This project originally received a NT$3 million tutoring grant from the "Information Bureau", but it would cost more than NT$10 million to make a movie. Director Chen had to turn to Yilan County Magistrate Lu Guohua for help. I don't know if the latter generously donated the money. , but said that "the children of South Australia are returning to their tribes to film and market South Australia and Yilan. The county government is optimistic about the success and will fully cooperate with it if it can do so in terms of manpower and scenes." and encourages more film and television units to film in Yilan. To this end The Yilan County Government has also formulated "Measures related to film subsidy". In the future, as long as a film crew comes to Yilan for filming, they can submit a subsidy application plan to the county government.
Two other newcomers from mainland China also participated in this film, Mu Zhonghua, the winner of the 2004 New Silk Road Chinese Model Contest, and supermodel Zheng Pengfei. They played the role of photographers of the crew in the film, and during the process of collecting photos, they also participated in the film. , fell in love with a local Atayal girl.
