What ancient towns are there in Kunshan?
Qiandeng Ancient Town, located in the Yangtze River Delta, is the hometown of patriotic scholar Gu and the birthplace of Kunqu Opera. In Qiandeng Ancient Town, there are seven arched dragon stone bridges built in Ming and Qing Dynasties, which straddle Qiandengpu, a middle road in the town. Important scenic spots include Gu's former residence, Gu Cemetery, Millennium Pagoda-Qin Feng Pagoda, Gu Jian Memorial Hall, etc.
2. Zhouzhuang Town
Zhouzhuang Town is located 38km southeast and 33km southwest of Suzhou. The tea culture in Zhouzhuang Town has a long history, and there have been customs such as eating "granny tea", "talking about tea", drinking "happy tea", "spring tea" and "full moon tea" and so on.

Bacheng is located in the low-lying polder area east of Taihu Lake. Ancient wells, stone tools, pottery and streets have been found in lakes and rivers such as longtan lake and Wuchengtan. It shows that the land formation in Bacheng area is earlier, and its evolution process is continental phase → neotectonic movement subsidence, flooding → sediment accumulation, regression and land formation → local land subsidence and re-elevation, from meadow soil environment to "water town".
There are many lakes in bacheng town, including Yangcheng Lake, Puppet Lake, Bacheng Lake, Eel Lake and Luocheng Lake, which are rich in hairy crabs, green shrimps and osmanthus fish.
4. Luzhi Ancient Town
There are a large number of lakes, ponds and pools around Luzhi Ancient Town, and its appearance maintains the characteristics of China traditional architecture. There are bridges with different styles, streets paved with stones, and beautiful patterns carved on the railings of bank protection. Handicrafts made by women have extraordinary creativity and show the unique value of traditional costumes.
5. Jinxi Ancient Town
There are many historical and cultural relics in Jinxi ancient town. Eight sites, including Lianchi Temple, Tongshen Daoyuan, Wenchang Pavilion, Chen Fei Shuishui, Guhe revetment and ancient stone arch bridge, have been listed as Kunshan-level cultural relics protection units, and communities such as Guhe revetment and ancient kiln site have been declared as Jiangsu-level cultural relics protection units.
