How to take good photos of the event site?

Sports and physical education are very important photographic subjects in both professional and amateur fields. No matter people, animals, objects and nature, there are many wonderful moments of movement worth recording. For sports themes, the main goal of shooting is to reflect the sense of speed, strength and shock, so it is particularly important to choose different shooting methods. What are the common shooting methods of this kind of subject matter? Today, Prism has compiled six most common techniques to help you take good photos with visual impact.

1) high-speed condensation

Examples such as splashing water, racing and athlete flying are very exciting and shocking. To freeze such a picture and take a clear enough picture, you need a high-speed shutter. According to different situations, the instantaneous picture of high-speed movement can be set between 1/800 seconds and 1/8000 seconds, for example:

Water sports splash-1/2000 seconds

Racing, horse racing, cycling and other speed events-1/800-11500 seconds

Football basketball track and field-1/500-11200 seconds

Note that if there is insufficient light in the scene, in order to get enough exposure at a higher shutter speed, the camera settings need to increase the aperture or improve the ISO.

2) Motion blur

The low-speed shutter can be used to shoot dynamic motion blur effect. For example, in the scene of athletes running at high speed, the shutter speed can be set at a relatively low speed-1/30 seconds to 3 seconds according to different themes, so as to shoot a fuzzy motion moment and reflect the sense of speed.

3) Flash synchronization (front curtain, Hou Lian)

If shooting indoors, you can use the front curtain synchronization or Hou Lian synchronization function of the flash to shoot the motion track with smear.

4) Multiple exposures

The high-speed continuous shooting function of the camera can be used to perform high-speed continuous shooting on the moving scene, and multiple independent photos can be obtained during the whole moving process. Then, with the help of multiple exposures, a discontinuous but clear picture of the movement process is obtained by merging.

5) high-speed coke chasing

Photographers often use high-speed focus-chasing when shooting sports themes such as racing cars and track and field. High-speed focus tracking is to quickly translate the camera (at this time, the camera enables automatic continuous focus), so that the lens and the athlete remain relatively static and form relative motion with the background. From this, you can take a picture with a clear and stable subject and a blurred background, reflecting the sense of speed and impact. This technique is most common in speed sports.

6) Enlarge the explosion

If you use a zoom lens to shoot, you can also use a special method to zoom and explode-that is, in the process of exposure, manually rotate the zoom ring quickly to zoom, so that you can shoot a photo with a static middle and a radioactive surrounding. Such photos also have a very strong "explosion" visual impact.

The above six techniques are common shooting techniques for sports themes, especially for speed themes. According to the creative intention, photographers choose different camera settings and shooting techniques to shoot different sports scenes with different effects, reflecting the beauty of sports.
