A7r2 used two months of small shoot and later experience.

The camera used in the last two months is Sony a7r2, a 40-megapixel micro camera made by Sony. Known as the small digital back, but what I use most is its video shooting function. Same level as a7s2, mainly used for video shooting, with slog-3 mode. At the same time, the high-speed shooting quality of 100 frame rate/second is 1920* 1080. A7r2 only has slog-2 mode, and high-speed shooting only has 1280*720 resolution. However, on the two machines, although a7s2 is more suitable for video shooting, I still think a7r2 is the machine I will choose, because after all, it has the photo shooting ability of more than 40 million pixels. It lacks video. I can make it up later.

I shoot in high definition in xavc format, not in 4k mode, because at present the output of a film is mainly 1920* 1080, and the shutter speed is generally 1/50. I shot in slog2 mode, that is, pp7 mode. The zebra pattern is 100, and the white balance is manual. Correct settings in the early stage will bring great convenience to the later stage. Use 100p mode in some pictures that may be upgraded in the future. After transcoding to HD later, you can lengthen the timeline to achieve the effect of slow motion. The slog2 mode performs well in the case of sufficient light. Even if zebra stripes appear late, there is a lot of noise if they are underexposed. At this time, the noise reduction software installed in fcpx software needs to be used for processing first. Using slog2 mode requires post-toning, then primary toning, plus lut, which will get a very good picture effect. If you need better image quality, you need to export xml to Da Vinci for secondary color matching.

I use fcpx as an editor. In order to be smoother later, I first transcoded it and converted it into prores422 format. First rough cut, then fine cut, and finally color matching.

Welcome everyone to have questions about video shooting and production to discuss with each other. * * * With the progress of learning!
