Contemporary people can't appreciate contemporary art? !

If you are thrown into a contemporary art exhibition hall without any introduction of creative background, your face will be covered with "stupid capital letters" (why? & amp? How)?

I also belong to the "stubborn" people who eat melons. I don't understand the significance of this device/video/performance art. Does it have aesthetic value, social value or commercial value? Can a person who makes a mess be called a work of art? Why is contemporary art not as good as classical art, so it is easy to cause * * * to have a beautiful, lofty and eternal feeling?

We live in the contemporary era, but we know very little about contemporary art. Perhaps, our mentality is not open enough, and the expression of contemporary artists is too personal and avant-garde, which has caused a rift between our works and ordinary audiences. Then, as people who eat melons, how can we get familiar with and understand contemporary art?

Contemporary art refers to the artistic expression from the middle of the 20th century to the present. With the rapid development of science and technology, globalization has closely linked all parts of the world, and artists can learn and absorb artistic expressions from other regions anytime and anywhere. Visual art is no longer the best in painting. Photography, video recording, installation and performance art are all new forms of expression. It is out of the traditional realistic painting and the "propositional composition" of art patrons that artists gradually realize economic independence, so that they can pursue to reflect their own hearts, express their views on the world, and explore and innovate new art forms.

Strictly speaking, contemporary artists have received systematic training from the college and have a solid foundation in traditional painting. But photography can beat realistic painting in accuracy and convey emotional value, so where is the way out for traditional painting? You can't blindly follow the old rules to create multiculturalism and new possibilities. In today's rapidly changing world, people often fall into anxiety, confusion and anxiety. As a sensitive artist, I feel empathy and am good at expressing. Different from the fleeting media such as words and pictures, good contemporary works of art are all expressed around a theme, and under this "iceberg", there is a profound philosophical, aesthetic foundation and realistic concern.

As discussed in "Exceptional State: An Overview of China's Situation and Art 20 17" exhibited at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in 1998, in today's anti-globalization, the world economy continues to slump, populism rises, and the problems of war and refugees intensify. So, what do naturally sensitive artists think of this? Under the background of "China and the World", 23 young artists gave their own perspectives and answers.

Graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts, currently studying for a doctorate in Philosophy Department of Capital Normal University. The installation work "The Grace of Not Killing" combines images, performance art, venue installations and other forms. Under the influence of the "new jungle law", people are connected through the Internet, but interpersonal relationships are more tense and alienated. In the image taken at the scene, several workers were hung on a 34-meter-high tower, and the person lying at the top of the tower played the role of "God", which could decide the life and death of the workers. At the exhibition site, as an audience, you can also participate in this picture. Like "God", what decision will you make on their fate?

The author often poetically expresses the influence of historical and political events on personal life with daily materials. In this work, you can only see a few microphones and hear the sound of waves after waves. Why? What is the difference between this wave and what we usually hear? It turns out that the author invited friends living in Europe to record the sound of waves on the beaches of Greece, Italy, Spain and the Balkans. It is on these beaches that in the past few years, refugees from the Middle East and North Africa have landed and suffered shipwrecks, and their hopes for survival have come to an abrupt end. The beach can be a romantic and beautiful memory, and it can also witness the end of life; This is the best place and the worst place.

In this installation art and painting, you can feel the "colorful" night scene. Red is hot; Blue is psychedelic. The lights keep spinning and changing, and you seem to be in an old-fashioned disco. The lights are projected on the black and white paintings, and the streets and human figures are faintly discernible. It turns out that this is the night scene on the streets of the Philippines. The Philippines has become part of the global supply chain. As a call center for order service, it is brightly lit day and night, just to work synchronously with European and American customers. The red tropical heat, accompanied by the sudden corpse of a drug dealer on the street, is precisely the trembling fear brought by blue light. If you understand, since President Duterte took office, the "kill without forgiveness" policy against drug dealers has appeared on the streets. It turns out that there are so many faces in a city that you can get lost and get caught up in desire.

At first glance, it looks like a monument and a niche embedded in the wall. Look carefully, different items are displayed in each grid. What's the point? If you know the author's academic background, then everything is clear. The author studied biology and architectural landscape at Harvard University, and was good at integrating the research in the laboratory into artistic creation. It turns out that looking down from the top square is like a history of biological evolution: from mollusks to human skulls; There are also human inventions around, such as scissors and lighters. Interestingly, all objects are displayed in the same size. Although the human skull is placed in the center, which implies the consistent "anthropocentrism", we have equal status in these "niches" of equal size. Human beings are also a part of biological evolution. In the long river of history, don't they also occupy this space? In this wall, all creatures and objects "meet alone".

The author's three groups of works are three metaphors, which are independent of each other and form a whole. The old aluminum bathtub symbolizes stability and maintenance. The high-pressure water gun and the glass syringe inserted in it are unstable factors, which will lead to disappearance and collapse. This is a competition of contradictory forces. There are also metal filing cabinets and steel wire mesh next to them. Such ordinary things should be to commemorate that since 1 May 19951day, China has started to implement the standard working system of five days a week. Finally, two long hemp ropes cut a passage in the ground and pointed to the "key" doorway on the other wall. Perhaps it is guiding you to open this door with a key-it symbolizes the future, a Pandora's box. You couldn't resist the temptation of curiosity and climbed the cracked wooden ladder in the Qing Dynasty. Are you sure you can cross this road smoothly? It is also a metaphor of our life: everything is possible and everything is unknown.

Through this series of interpretations, you can feel that there are so many symbols and metaphors in contemporary art works. Although there are no explanatory words beside the works, as long as you do your homework in advance, consult relevant materials and follow the critics to understand the works, you can see more meanings in the works.

It turns out that contemporary art also has rich connotations and thoughts. It is not only the artist's exploration, reflection and expression of reality, but also the audience's second exploration and interpretation. Just like digging for treasure, we dig for the background of the work and the creative thinking of the author, so contemporary art will no longer be isolated, puzzling or grandstanding. In a more macroscopic and comprehensive subject background, we have expanded the boundaries of our knowledge and thinking with the help of contemporary art.
