What is 7D? How is 7D different from other Ds?

When the excitement of 3D just subsided, 4D and 5D came. Before I understood what was going on, 7D came again. The brothers came one after another, and you and I simply fainted. Everyone knows these 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. How come the letter D after them becomes so sophisticated? Leisure in the city is already rare, but it is impossible to make it so sophisticated. Today, let’s break it up and talk about the “D” thing in the movie theater.

Steps to watch 7D movies

On March 17, a 7D interactive theater opened near Causeway Bay in Taiyuan City, known as a "7D interactive theater that you can play with." This cinema has a projection hall with a small screen, eight yellow leather chairs, an air conditioner, two fans, and some unnamed equipment. The entire environment, intuitively, looks similar to the 5D movie in Yingze Park.

It’s time to watch a movie.

The first step is to choose a film. There are six movies to choose from, namely "Red Alert", "Wonderland Adventure", "Assault", "Horror Coaster", "Resistance Against Japan 1937" and "Space Chase".

The second step is to be fully armed. The staff in the store cleaned the 3D glasses, put them on, and sat in the seat honestly. The staff signaled to fasten the seat belt, then picked up the plastic pistol on the right side of the chair and found the number matching his seat number on the screen. Aim it with your pistol. Hey, the pistol is yellow. Just when I was about to play with it carefully, the staff reminded: "Look up!" It turns out that before the movie is shown, the system will take photos for each audience member.

In the third step, the theater lights dim and the "warm-up" begins. A bunch of zombies suddenly appeared in front of me, and I was shocked. I heard someone shouting "Aim and shoot!" This was the staff giving instructions. There was a "gun" sound, wow, it was so cool.

The fourth step is that the movie officially starts. Still immersed in the exhilaration of killing zombies with guns, the camera suddenly changed and I was "forced" to ride a roller coaster. What I just experienced was just a trial shot, and now, the movie "Roller Coaster of Horror" has officially begun. You are taken into a valley, the train is speeding, and your body is swaying with the rhythm of the train. Oh my God! There is a valley on the right. Make a sharp turn and drive to the left; Oh my God! There is a waterfall in front of you, and the water spray is coming towards you; huh? Why, the train was driving high in the sky, and a mist floated over; suddenly, dust was flying on the screen, and there was a gust of wind blowing from the scene. At this time, the zombies came again, in groups, and some even came in jeeps. Aim and shoot! Unfortunately, the firepower was insufficient, and he was attacked by the claws of zombies. The chair shook and his body trembled. Oops, now I feel like I'm back in a game arcade.

Step 5: After 10 minutes, the movie ends. Photos of two "zombies" grabbing people appear in the middle of the screen. This is the score of the zombies you hit in one shot. The design rankings of all viewers will appear on the screen. In addition, there is a QR code on the screen. Scan this QR code and your movie-viewing photos will be automatically sent to your mobile phone.

What should I do if I get "movie dizzy"

Although it is only ten minutes, I still feel a little dizzy after playing around. However, if you let me play again, I will do it. Hey, you really should pay attention to your restraint! In this way, it is more like a new type of game arcade than a movie theater. Because this technology brings people not only watching movies, but also playing games. Well, even the scoreboard is out.

On the wall outside the cinema, there are photos of children watching the movie, and I can’t help but feel sorry for them. According to ophthalmologists, 3D glasses are actually a kind of polarizer. Generally, the left eye of the human eye can only see the left image, and the right eye can only see the right image. 3D glasses use the converging function of the eyes to separate the left and right images. Superimposed on the fundus of the eyes to form a three-dimensional visual effect, and the repeated focusing of the audience's eyes will cause overuse of the cerebral cortex, cause accommodative visual fatigue, and produce a feeling of dizziness. When watching a 3D movie, the focus of the eyes is actually firmly locked on the screen. Once the focus leaves the screen, the picture becomes blurred, and people subconsciously push the visual focus back to the screen again. In such a back-and-forth situation, the human eye is very easily fatigued, and the rate of "movie sickness" naturally increases suddenly. In severe cases, the child may even vomit. Coupled with the swaying of the 7D theater tables and chairs back and forth, you have to concentrate on fighting the monsters between swings, and you may feel dizzy and nauseated from time to time. Doctors say that short-term movies will not affect children's health, but children under the age of 8 are indeed not suitable for watching too many such movies. It is recommended that older children choose a seat in the back.

As for the situation of children getting "movie dizzy", the person in charge of the theater Li Wenxiang said that some people do get dizzy, and this also varies from person to person. After entering the theater, the staff will tell the audience to take off their gloves immediately if they feel dizzy. The situation can be alleviated by taking off the 3D glasses.

Fifty designers can only produce 8 works a year

The 7D interactive theater started its trial operation last week. According to Li Wenxiang’s observation, most of the people who go to the theater are young people, and Different groups play different content.

Boys prefer to play "Red Alert"; girls tend to play "Wonderland Adventure", which mainly involves fighting monsters; children like "The Encirclement" because it is a police movie; "Scary Coaster" is about fighting zombies; "Anti-Japanese 1937" is about fighting the Japanese; "Space Pursuit" is about fighting spaceships. Customers' reactions are basically as follows: After watching one film, they feel it is not enough and want to watch one more. Some people finish watching all six films in a row before leaving.

Li Wenxiang discovered the 7D project at Chengdu Airport last year. At that time, he just thought it was interesting and didn’t pay much attention to it. This year, he brought the concept to Taiyuan. 7D movies are different from ordinary 5D movies. When the audience is involved, they need excellent technical support. After speaking, he pointed to the screen and continued, "Just like these avatars and achievements, when the camera captures the entire scene, the computer will automatically generate 8 avatars according to the positions of the tables and chairs, and then use technology to generate each person's avatar. There are specific QR codes. These are all programmed by technicians in advance. This is why the head office has 50 designers and only produces 8 works a year.”

There are currently only two 7D cinemas in Shanxi, one in Causeway Bay and the other at Taiyuan Wusu Airport. The reason why it is located at the airport is to attract the attention of more people with investment vision. Now many people have contacted Li Wenxiang and want to join. It is understood that 7D Cinema has developed to a considerable scale in Tianjin and other places.

7D is not an official definition

It is a customization

Li Wenxiang believes that the main function of 7D is to play, because the feeling it brings to people is not just simple Watched a movie. There is actually no clear definition of what 7D is. After 3D movies entered people's lives, the visual sense was enhanced, and the subsequent 4D, 5D, and 6D just added some situational experiences on the edge. As for how to add it, everyone has their own method. Their 7D allows moviegoers to become characters in the movie, intervene in the movie, and set the environment and plot in advance. 3D has a clear technical concept, and 7D, in layman's terms, combines 3D, video technology, game entertainment and dynamic theater technology.

Other "D"

D is the abbreviation of "Dimensions" in English, and the Chinese refers to dimensions.

3D: 3 dimensions, namely length, width, and height, is the concept of space. Compared to a plane (2D) with only length and width, watching 3D movies can produce a three-dimensional effect.

4D=3D+touch, smell and other feelings (the screening site can simulate natural phenomena such as lightning, smoke, snowflakes, etc.).

5D=4D+dynamic and other feelings (there are more than a dozen special effects, such as wind, rain, electricity, smoke, snowflakes, bubbles, flames sweeping legs, back stabs, vibrations, etc., there is scorching heat in front of the "flame" Feeling, the clothes will be "wet" when the waves hit you).

6D=5D+taste and other feelings (in addition to watching movies, you can also smell, touch, and move, changing from static appreciation to dynamic participation).

How is the stereoscopic effect produced?

There are many forms of 3D stereoscopic film production, among which the polarized glasses method is more widely used. It uses two movie cameras placed side by side, representing the left and right eyes of a person respectively, to simultaneously shoot two movie images with slight horizontal parallax. During screening, two movie films are loaded into the left and right movie projectors respectively, and two polarizers with polarization axes at 90 degrees to each other are installed in front of the projection lens. The two projectors need to operate synchronously to form a left image and a right image. When the audience wears special polarized glasses, the left eye can only see the left image, and the right eye can only see the right image. The convergence of the two eyes will produce a three-dimensional visual effect, creating an "immersive" feeling.
