A Review of Mohist Film Criticism and Evaluation

It's very kind to watch "Ink Attack". Although the original comic book is Japanese, the production team is mainly Hong Kong people, and Korean and black friends are also added, but the thick sand, city walls and towers, swords and bows and arrows bring us back to the war-torn and simple Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and come to a small cool city. After experiencing the great heroism in Hero, the promise and the Shakespeare stage in Banquet, Mo Chong returned to the purity of this kind of films (this purity is of course relative). Perhaps, just like the Seven Swords, the ink attack will have some shortcomings and mistakes, but it doesn't hurt to like it.

First, the "ink" attack on ink

I have limited knowledge of Mohist thought and history, so let's talk about movies here. The Mohist thought embodied in the film (actually not embodied, just mentioned or put forward) is mainly "mutual non-aggression" and "universal love". Mutual non-aggression and love can be understood together, that is, advocating peace and mutual care between people. But this idea is not practical in reality, and it seems powerless in the face of conflicts and struggles of interests. Therefore, it is probably because of "no attack and self-destruction" and "good defense." The image of Mohism in the film is a wise man, a brave man who helps people defend the city everywhere. As a part of Mohist thought, mutual non-aggression and universal love inevitably have limitations. Another important thought of Mohism, "Heaven knows ghosts and gods" (or "respecting ghosts and gods"), says that the development of human beings and the rewards and punishments for their actions are determined by heaven. "Non-aggression and love" can perform their duties well, on the premise of "obeying heaven". Of course, such superstitious remarks can't appear in movies, so the director gave a sentence to future generations, "Only when one country reunites seven countries can the war end."

The director also endowed modern people with introspection consciousness in Magic Zhe Gree. When thousands of prisoners were slaughtered, Ge Li began to reflect on whether it was correct to focus on killing the enemy in the war. This is to look at war from a more human perspective. However, in the face of war, Mohism has no fundamental solution. He pinned his hopes for peace on the wise monarch, continued to wander around by himself, and helped the people in the war with Mohist thought and his own ability.

Second, the ink attack of "attack"

How to keep Liangcheng is a highlight of the film. The mobilization of the whole people, the improvement of weapons, "borrowing arrows from wooden boards", luring the enemy deep, and so on, as well as the huge enemy line, coupled with the role of photography and special effects, are really beautiful. However, the gap between the enemy and the enemy is too big. Zhao's first attack was resisted by shooting the enemy commander, and Ge Li almost died, which also increased the thriller of the film. This is mainly attributed to Geli's contribution, but there is also an element of luck, which also illustrates the limitations of Mohism from another side.

In addition to the fierce attack and defense itself, the director's grasp of the rhythm of attack and defense also adds a lot of color to the film.

Third, the ink attack on "love"

After watching the movie, I was thinking, if only Fan Bingbing hadn't been so cold to Greer. Originally, the female roles in this kind of movies are not very important, and there is no obligation to express female consciousness, as long as the characteristics are distinct. Or dressed in military uniforms, brave and good at fighting; Or generous and kind, gentle and considerate; Still enchanting temptation, the hero is hard to shake. Fan Bingbing appeared in a uniform, but later he rarely took part in the war, sending shoes and clothes tenderly, but inexplicably pounced on Ge Li in an emergency. Trying to show too many (commercial) elements in the only important female role is counterproductive and uncharacteristic.

Of course, this does not mean that there should be no such thing. She is also an aspect that shows the helplessness of ink writers, but it is not refined enough. She broke away from her love. Mohism advocates universal love and has great ideals, but the reality is that even her lover can't protect her. Ideals are inevitably fragile in the face of reality, and persistent progress is bound to be accompanied by sacrifice and sadness …
