What is spiral CT?

Spiral CT scanning is that the X-ray tube rotates continuously around the human body, and the scanning bed automatically enters the bed horizontally at a uniform speed, so the scanning line is spiral on the patient's body surface. Different from conventional CT scanning, spiral scanning obtains continuous information of all tissues in the scanning range, so it is also called volume data, which avoids the shortcoming that small lesions are easily missed due to respiratory movement in tomographic CT scanning. Spiral CT can be divided into single-layer spiral CT and multi-layer spiral CT according to different detectors. Because of the special detector and new technology, the scanning speed of digital flat panel detector is obviously improved, which makes it possible to scan thin layers with large coverage and high resolution.
