Color basis

Primary colors, primary colors-

The three primary colors of color and light:

Also called optical tricolor, it consists of red, green and blue light. These three colors can be mixed into almost all colors, and white light can be obtained by adding the same amount of tricolor light. Common applications of three primary colors: mobile phone, IPAD, monitor, camera and TV.

Print three primary colors:

Also known as the three primary colors of pigment, it consists of cyan, magenta and Huang San. These three colors of pigments can be mixed with all colors of pigments, and the same amount of cyan yellow can be added to get black, but this black is not pure black, so a pure black K is added for printing. Common applications of printing three primary colors: magazines, photos, picture books, pictorial, wall paint.

This paper is mainly aimed at photography knowledge, focusing on the three primary colors of color and light.

Complementary colors and adjacent colors—

Complementary colors: If two equal colors are mixed with each other to get white, the two colors are complementary colors, and the two colors separated by 180 in the color circle are complementary colors.

Adjacent colors: colors with close distance in the color circle.

Color value—

Color value: a value used to represent a certain color. With the help of the color picker in PS, we can know the value of a certain color in the picture. HSB, Lab, RGB and CMYK are all considered as a color mode, and each color corresponds to a set of values in these four modes, which can be used as a reference for reading pictures and matching colors.

For example, the blue of the sky in the above picture is taken off, and the value of Y is found to be 18% in the CYK value, which shows that there is a part of yellow in the blue sky, and yellow and blue are complementary colors, which is one of the reasons why the sky in the photo looks not blue enough and opaque.

PS commonly uses two color matching tools-

First, the curve: color matching has a great influence, so pay attention to control and make overall adjustment.

Second, optional color: color matching has little influence and is suitable for fine tuning.

Example of color matching application—

There are two ways to make the sky bluer (curved):

1, reducing the complementary color yellow.

2. Add adjacent cyan and magenta.
